The pedigree on this strain gets me pretty excited. Some really awesome strains all bred into one. I am hoping for a candy pheno. P.S. At the time of posting this, it has been 67 days since the seed was sown. She is running out of room in the small 2x4 veg tent with 2 other vegging photos (one of which has now been moved into the flower tent) and an autoflower. I had to do a lot of training and defoliation to keep her a reasonable size for her space. She will be moved into flower as soon as another is ready for harvest. Until then, I will be torturing her into a little bonzai.

As promised, better pictures this week. Going forward, I will be doing a better job tracking and documenting. Today is 70 days after sowing. 67 days after sprouting. I have trained this girl hard. I have done every training techniques I could to keep her from outgrowing her limited space in her corner of the 2x4 tent. Really looking forward to sending her to flower in the next week or 2 and seeing what she produces. I have just one more diary to add and I will be caught up to the point where I can update the nutrient feeding schedules. I hope you'll join me. Until next update...Peace, love, and frosty nugs! ☮️♥️❄️☃️🌲🌲🌲 💨💨💨

Hello growers! Thanks for joining me for another update in my grow adventure with Orange Sherbert from Barney's Farm. She was moved to 12/12 on 8/8/2020 Observation: She looks happy and healthy with nice green coloration. No indications of toxicity or deficiency and no indications of pests or disease. She has a ton of tops and will likely need thinning in the near future. Hoping for a nice stretch! Method: I am holding back on defoliation until after she finishes her stretch in an effort to avoid stunting. I added some Dutch White Clover as a cover crop. Cover crops are new territory for me. Not only does it look cool, but I have read that it offers several benefits to your plants and rhizosphere. This plant had some over the clover sprouting already! I plan to defoliate rather heavily around week 3 or so of 12/12, after she's done stretching. Thanks again for joining me. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. Any thoughts, suggestions, or feedback is welcome and encouraged. As always, happy growing! Peace, love, and frosty nugs! ☮️💚❄️🌲

Welcome back to my garden! Thanks for following me on this journey! 8/20 - Day 13 of Bloom: It has been 9 days since moving this Orange Sherbert lady into 12/12. Some light stretching starting to happen, but I expect she will start really stretching hard soon! Stay tuned for BUDS! Thanks for stopping in and if you get a chance, check out a few of my other diaries and give me a follow. Happy growin' friends! Peace, ☮️ Love, 💚 and Frosty Nugs! ❄️🌲 - Fo' Twenny

Fo' Twenny Back with another update on our Orange Sherbert from Barney's Farm! 8/24 - Day 17 of Bloom: I did some selective defoliation to help increase light penetration. Next watering will be a flush with 2 tsp/gal of Fox Farm's flush agent SledgeHammer. Everything is growing strong with this classy lady and she has an abundance of growing shoots. I may need to do some additional lollipopping, but I am being conservative and trying to spread out defoliation/lollipopping to avoid shocking her. She isn't stretching a whole. However, she is very bushy and I to think that will make up for the minimal stretching as far as yields are concerned. Leaves all look pretty healthy and are a nice shade of green. 8/28 - Day 21: Flushed the medium with tap H2O run through 2 KDF filters with 2 tsp/gal of Fox Farm Sledgehammer flushing agent and pH adjusted to 6.2. I started by giving 5 gallons. After checking the PPM of the runoff I ended up adding 5 more gallons mixed to same specifications. 10 gallons total was shared by 3 large flowering photoperiod cultivars and 1 smaller autoflower. She probably ended up with about 3 gallons give or take. I didn't measure how much each plant received. I just kept flushing each and checking runoff until it was under 1600 ppm. Thanks for checking out my diary. If you liked this diary, check out my other diaries and give me a follow! Until next time... Peace ☮️, Love 💚, And Frosty Nugs ❄️🌲! -Fo'Twenny

Fo' Twenny Back with another update on our Orange Sherbert from Barney's Farm! She is looking really good this week. She did start to show some deficiencies after flushing Friday 8/28. Otherwise she looks super healthy with leaves "praying" to the canna-gods! Now, on with the deets! LIGHTING: Increased lighting at dimmer last week with good results. Was about 70k LUX on average @ Canopy. Turning it up a bit more this week. 8 Outer Boards @ 665.5w 6 Inner Boards @ 601w LUX APP MAXES OUT READING 78750 LUX @ Canopy. Lets hope its not too much! RHIZOSPHERE: If you didn't tune into the last update, I had just flushed pots due to high PPM runoff. pH of runoff was at 6.3. PPM and pH are tested using 2 separate calibrated BlueLab meters. Fo' Twenny Back with another update on our Orange Sherbert from Barney's Farm! 9/9 - Day 33 of 12/12: The deficiencies that were showing after flushing Friday 8/28 have slowed down their progression, but are still present. I waited a day too long to water and got she started to droop a bit. 9/10: She is no longer dropping and looks much happier. Defoliated some leaves that were showing deficiencies. I am starting to think the deficiencies may be due to lockout. I did switch to filtered tap water this run and I think the water may just be too hard. I will be picking up an RO filtration system with KDF for chlorine and chloramine. Until then, I don't plan on ming any major adjustments. Just plan on continuing to feed light and measure the runoff. Now, on with the deets! LIGHTING: I had increased lighting at dimmer last week and I think this is causing some stress. It was also getting pretty hot in the tent, which could be part of reason they looked stressed. It got up to 86°F for 2 days and dimmed the lights to compensate. I will be upgrading the AC soon. Backing the light off to about 75k lux max at the canopy. Now on to the details! 9/16 - Day 40 of 12/12: The progression of the burn/deficiency I was noticing seems to have slowed to a near stop. It's week 8 and all she is looking great as she progresses deeper into senescence! She is really packing on the frost ❄️and her Orange Cream Candy 🍊🍦🍭 fragrance just keeps getting stronger!!! It wont be long before we harvest these beautiful flowers!!! Also, I realized my BlueLab Conductivity Meter has the option to switch to EC. Since EC is the most accurate way to measure the nutrient concentration in a solution, I will now be measuring and reporting EC readings rather than PPM. Any advice, suggestions, or constructive criticisms are always welcome. Now, for the weekly break down! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• THIS WEEK'S BREAK DOWN •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 9/26 - Day 50 of Bloom °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 👩‍💻🏼 UPGRADE 👩‍💻 - Upgraded from 8k BTU to 14k BTU portable AC unit! ✂️🍃 PRUNING/TRAINING 🍃✂️ - Selective light defoliation. Removal of dying leaves, leaves blocking other budsites and lower leaves preventing proper air flow. I try to stick to defoliating around 10-15% of foliage at a time and make sure to leave a "crown" 👑 of leaves at the top to absorb photons. If additional defoliation is needed, I will wait at least 3-5 days to avoid stunting growth. 🚿FEED DAY!🚿 - She received approximately 2.5 gallons of nutrient solution. I mixed 8 gallons of solution for all the plants I have in flower. 2.5 gallons of that was then measured and fed to this cultivar. This 80/20 Indica/Sativa photo-dependant hybrid cultivar has a flowering time of 60-70 days and is nearly ready for chop! This week, we will be giving very light feeds to get her progressing deeper into senescence. She looks prettier and smells stronger with each day that passes! Observation: Ever since I upgraded the AC and have been maintaining lower temps, I notice that don't have to water nearly as often. Used to be about every 3 - 4 days, and now, its closer to 5 - 6 days. The White Dutch Clover may also play a factor here. I do mist the top of the pots with 1-2 oz every day to every other day with plain water to keep the White Dutch Clover happy. Any advice, suggestions, or constructive criticisms are always welcome. Now, for the weekly break down! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• THIS WEEK'S BREAK DOWN •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 10/6 - Day 60 of Bloom °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 📸 PHOTOSHOOT! 📸 🚿FEED DAY!🚿 She received approximately 205 oz of solution. Early testers are already 🔥🔥🔥! Super dank Orange Creamsicle w/Extra Cream would be a long, yet, very fitting name. I am not sure orange Sherbert does it justice. I am on a rant again... need to focus... but, I am hella blazed! Good stuff! It belongs on the top shelf! I let her go to the later end of breeder recommended flower time and it's pleasantly stoney! Very potent medicine, indeed! It's not lethargic, yet it's Indica dominance is more than apparent. It would be a great hang out on the couch or hangout pretty much anywhere type stone... as long as there's some good music playing. I will update with a final dry weight, but it might be several grams short. ☺️☺️☺️

I had a few issues in that started plant started trying to communicate starting in week 4 of flower. I am fairly confident that it was due to a high EC causing lockout. I corrected the problem and ended up with some nice medicine despite some a few ugly fan leaves. I let her go to day 70 before giving her the chop. She was flushed about 5 days prior to chop and immediately started fading into some nice colors. I learn with every plant and I am thankful for the lessons this Orange Sherbert has taught me. I will definitely order more of these seeds in the future!

Beauty! I am going to be flipping soon as well! I like the clover too. Tell me more...
greenflipcali89
greenflipcali89commented5 years ago
@FoTwenny - Thanks for the info on this! I'll be following to see how your babies like it. Aesthetics is the pinnacle of growing cannabis as an artform! To side track off the subject a bit...I have always been intrigued with bonsai style cannabis and wondering how clover would look as it's ground cover. If there was a way to attach a pic to this message I would, but sure you have seen it on the Internet somewhere! If not, I will find a link and send.

@greenflipcali89, Hello again! So, I think I first saw a YouTube channel, CaliGreen, using cover crop. Maybe not first, I think I'd seen it in forums or something, but the first I heard provide some explanation. It sounded interesting, but I had higher priorities trying to establish this new garden and kind of forgot about it. Recently I saw @PremiumNamaste using it in his Solo cup challenge diary and asked him about why he uses the white clover. I did some further research to confirm that, for a minute expense, you get several benefits. This is best of my understanding: Similar in function to Azos, White Dutch Clover actually harnesses atmospheric nitrogen and releases it into the rhizosphere for your roots to absorb. Helps retain moisture to keep airy mediums from drying too quickly. Acts as a barrier between soil and air. This is a great benefit to help minimize soilborn fungal infections and pest infestations. As the clovers life cycle ends and you water over the decaying plant material, it acts as a compost to help provide additional organic nutrients to your plant during flower. This is new to me. My first implementation. As long as it does no harm, I will probably continue to use cover crops simply because I find them to be aesthetically appealing. Don't you think it's sort of pretty?

Wow!! Those bugs look beautiful. Very frosty and scrumptious. By the way, how are the plants liking the new light?
FoTwenny
FoTwennycommented4 years ago
@Treighfunky, Well, I think I was running it too high or maybe it was the temps from running the lights at such a high power, but they didn't seem to be too happy. Upgrading the AC soon, so once I can control temps better, I may slowly dial up again and see how far I can push them.
