Not such a smooth week this week. Started off with a pretty apparent Mg deficiency in Candy Kush. I determined the cause of the issue after I had already watered on Monday morning, so I had to wait until Wednesday evening to water with the new CalMag nutes. Around Wednesday night I noticed a small insect flying around. By Thursday evening, it became apparent that I have fungus gnats in Speedy Chile. I see very few gnats flying around, so I think I may have caught it early. I rolled down the lip of my fabric pots to allow more airflow to dry the topsoil. I also needed to water this evening, so I used only 750mL instead of the 1L that I have used in the last few weeks and I watered from the bottom only to allow the topsoil to stay dry, hopefully killing any larvae. I'll follow the same procedure for the next week or so until I stop seeing adult gnats. In spite of these couple setbacks, the plants seem like they're doing ok. I noticed the first trichomes on Sunday on both plants and the buds are starting to grow together on Candy Kush, so I'm hoping for some nice fat buds off that one. Speedy Chile is pretty leggy with a lot of internodal space, so I'm curious to see how it will finish up. Fingers crossed that these little hiccups go away over the next week. I'm hoping for a mid-November harvest to be done curing by the holidays.

2 plants in 0.5L pots in BioBizz AllMix. Using tap water. Both have twisted/incomplete new growth with strange texture and discoloration on some lower leaves. Suspicion: 1. Very soft water-> CalMag deficiency. 2. Low humidity ~25-35%. 3 Need to pot up (planned to do it this week)

These plants have been topped/LSTd. They're 5 weeks old in their final 7L pots. I'm thinking they're about ready to flip in the coming week, but I'm open to opinions on if I should wait more. Also, defoliation before flower: Skip it? Do it? If yes, then how much and where from?

Hey there Tiny Couch, you're absolutely right that they're ready to be flipped, that much you can tell by the new growth happening . Still though with a topping which is a HST , i would say try to aim for an average veg of 7 to 8 weeks. Topping can really reduce your yield, that's what folks dont realise. 5 weeks is very short for veg, but because of watching folks do it online it got kind of normalised lol The difference in yield for a short veg of up to 5 weeks and an average veg of up to 7 weeks is really quite huge, and in my personal opinion it's totally worth it if you have few plants. Go for 8 weeks even, that's not even a long veg, not really. Hope this helps ! 🚀

@CRiSPrGrow, thanks for your advice! 👊 They were topped two weeks ago and have had consistent growth and LST since then, so I was thinking they would have recovered by now...? I'll admit that I am a bit impatient to move on to the next stage, but more than that, I was worried about letting them veg too long to where they end up outgrowing their small pots during the stretch. I'm not looking for a massive yield. An ounce off each plant will be plenty for my consumption, but the more, the better of course. Is the potential of outgrowing the pots something I should be worried about if I let them go another 2 weeks in veg?

Change humidity to 55/65% and temperature between 23-26 ºC it's really important in the vegetative stage.

@Tosca, Thanks for the tips! I've gotten better control of the humidity this week. I don't want to buy a humidifier, so I just spray water into the tent a 4 or 5 times a day to give them a good dose of humidity. Even then, with the bigger pots now, the humidity is staying a higher than before. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about the temps. I don't have A/C and I live in a pretty hot place, but temps have been going down this week, so they'll get some cooler air soon. Maybe they're not growing as fast as they could, but they're still making progress!
