This week, I found out the White Widow is pretty sensitive to low PH. Fortunately all plants rebounded sharply on Day 47 after draining and replacing the water. Going steadily now. I'm just amazed with how fast the plants are drinking the water.

Grow Questions

Is this powdery mildew? I am seeing some white spots starting to form on the underside and top side of lower fan leaves. Would adding an oscillating fan help prevent anymore white spots from appearing in the future or will I need to apply neem oil or something?

possibly... However, has any water dripped on the leaves? This can be remnants of evaporated water too. Since it is on the underside, i doubt it. it's very small and isolated at moment it seems? should be okay if you start to deal with it now. Fan will help. If leaves are overlapping and causing standing water, remove a leaf or 2. (you want to prefer not to cut leaves off...) Airflow, lower humidity, if not bad for you plants, can both help. RH <55-60% is best to avoid microbial growth... may not be best relative to VPD, but you weight your risks and do what's best for your context... in this case, i'd ignore vpd and ensure no growth since you've seen hints of it. in the past i've just rubbed it off and it went away, but my humidity wasn't an issue either and likely fixed cause of problem when i thinned plant out a bit. clean it off but make sure to use a new wipe each time or you may just contaminate other leaves... Believe milk can work? Check out the GD Copywriting contest submissions.. at least one of them goes over various options for powdery mildew as far as a more proactive approach. Since you are in flower, i'd avoid anything involving pesticides, neem and the like... just because somethign is 'organic' doesn't mean it is safe to spray on flower you will smoke later. neem is not safe to spray on flowers. i don't think it does anything for mildew? more for killing pests by making leaves poisonous.

Beautiful plant! Congratulation man! Those buds are full of resin, will you smoke all the weed or will you extract , if so which is your preferred method?

@GreenPyramid, if you let me suggest you something.. I'd say bubblehash, you buy a set of bags and the game is on, quite easy, cant fuck it up! Solventless I would say is the best way to go, specially at the begininng. If you want text me in chat and we'll talk about! ENJOY MAN!

@Pennello, I'm a newbie at extracting and I wasn't able to find a great method to extract from my research so far, the closest I found was ethanol extract but even I'm pretty unsure of that method.

@GreenPyramid, What do you mean? Sorry I did not understand, might be the morning joint lol! There's plenty of budget-safe way to extract our goods :D

Hey buddie, you might consider elevating the totes and install drain valves. This way after you drain them for nute swap, you can clean/rinse off the sides if you needed to. But, if you start using Hydroguard all through your grow you shouldn't have to do much cleaning at all. Stuff will boost growth as well as keep away the root rot. Hope this helps growmie!

@GreenPyramid, Its definitely a great "ease-of-use" feature to have with any system that lacks a separate reservoir. Drain what's built up and replace with all fresh etc (most do 1-2 weeks, I cant bring myself to trust past 1). The switch was definitely a good choice - Hydroguard is overrated and overpriced! Some might also argue the dosing is quite an exaggeration, like so many other products these days 😔 I use Photosynthesis Plus- directions say 30ml per 5 gal, I use 6ml with perfect results >.>

@TickleToast, I used hydroguard for the most of the grow and eventually switched to Southern AG to save on cost. Also, I have switched to a rDWC fallponics system, I’ll definitely consider setting up a drain valve for the next grow!

@ILoVethisPlanT, GZ is hard hitting, but blue gelato 41 had a better cerebral high. Both highs lasted longer than the two other strains.

hi, is the ec you get from the feeding schedule? regards and happy growing
amino
amino
@GreenPyramid, Thanks for reply, the point is in dwc cause of no medium, cation exchange is different in root area to get nutrition for the plant, so in short the max ec you should have run in peak bloom is 1.3 ec if you are using mineral fertilizer. Lets say your water has a base Ec of 0.4 then you should peak around 1.5 ec. The higher quality the nutrients have in means of concentration and bio availability less ec is needed. regards and happy growing
GreenPyramid
GreenPyramid
@@amino, The EC is somewhat inaccurate, as Gorilla Zkittlez & Blue Gelato’s DWC is in 350’s while bubba kush and white widow’s DWC is in 450’s. I will be trying to maintain their preferred levels of EC until flowering starts. Thank you for your wishes, best of luck!

I wonder if the hermie trait was caused by the pinholes which in return caused the lower budsites to hermie out due to hormonal stress? I got a bunch of Gorilla Zkittles so maybe ill lollipop just to be on the safe side! Bless:)
GreenPyramid
GreenPyramid
@GooseGenetics, you have a good point, it could be attributed to the pinholes from the tent. But, the tent itself is in a dark place which should make it an nonissue. However, there are multiple factors we need to consider: 1. The tap water I'm using is extremely cold @ 58F and I did not let it sit before adding to rez for the entire grow. 2. Lack of lights on the lower bud sites is most likely the trigger for this hermie trait. 3. Genetics. It seems like GG4 is known to hermie, this descendent might have gotten that Hermie trait. its the price we pay to grow fire :) Lollipopping is definitely a must for the next time, best of luck on your grow and keep us updated!
