Hi peeps!! Welcome to my Ozzy Outdoor Jack Grow 👍 Just a quick overview the grow before going in detail for this week: I finally decided to ordered proper fem seeds so at least you know what's going on from the start and even if harvest sucks, at least the buds won't. I have a few more strains like WW, Super Lemon Haze, Amnesia and some freebies but I chose Jack Herer and Arjan's Strawberry Haze for this year. Well that is if the Strawberry comes finally up, so far nothing yet after 9 days in soil.. I'll dropped another freebie just in case (Dinafem Blueberry Cookies 😋).. Soil is the biggest (and most expensive) investment although it should pay back once harvest comes. After some research I liked the Super Soil concept but instead of just buying the finished product, I made my own organic living soil and will be only topdressing 1/month, aloe foliar 1/week and organic supplements in every watering. Soil is amended and curing as we speak lol.. One thing I would like to change but can't (at least not for now) is the amount of direct sunlight my plants gonna get, would say 10-12h.. Might look into providing extra lighting but that is not planned for for now.. As for the Jack this week, he was soaked 24h and planted in a new recipe I tried (7part seedling mix, 2part organic compost, 1part worm castings). Popped up pretty much the day after and stretched a bit for 2-3days due to a weak 6W led I used as light source.. I made a 50W CFL grow light and I probably upgrade that to 100W because I have roughly 1 sqft anyway, perfect for the first weeks 😎 After that Jack clearly stopped stretching and was in full veg mode.. Because I made the rookie mistake of filling my pots up till 1inch from the top, I had to mock around a bit but made it so I could bury the stem till an inch from the first rounded leaves.. I would say he was 10cm from te original soil level before. All good and today he got a bit of a bday treat, Seasol at 25% . Cheers, see yous next week!!! ✌️

Howdy Fellas!! Jack did pretty well last week😎 He maybe looks a bit sad but that is only since yesterday and I think I figured it out.. Heat I upgraded from 50w to 100w so I should've anticipated the extra heat a bit more.. If you look at the setup, up until today I had 2 extra pots under the fixture (plumb from seed after chilling in the fridge) so I had pretty much 1 under each bulb and 1 in the middle.. I played around with raising the pots to get the most out of the CFL. Jack was under one of the bulbs and was doing awesome but I didn't really know what was going on temperature wise (touch and go).. My thermostat probe had been in the dome to keep heat up for germination, but this morning Miss Strawberry fully sprouted so I could finally take a read.. Pretty shocked to see that without my small pc fan slightly moving the leaves, temps would reach 35°c easily and this is measured at a lower height than before and in the middle of the fixture instead of under a bulb.. With the fan on it looks pretty stable at 24-25°c but yeah, the fan was not on 🤦. Soo yeah, enough reason imo to indicate heat stress but feel free to give your thoughts. Jack didn't really grow much vertically last 7 days and the bottom leaves were almost touching the soil, after some research (and before knowing the temps under the lights lol) I learned that was due to pot size and the pot being slightly too big. Apparently the roots first search for the boundaries of the pot before taking off vertically. Had a quick look on Jack's bum and I see already a few roots through the holes, in a 1L (well 1,5L almost how I did it ) pot in just 14 days 😲 I thought I was going to be good for 4-6weeks in this size but we see how we go, I'll keep an eye on the roots and will act the moment I see any other shades than bright white in the roots. So yeah, this, in combo with the heat stress, makes sense to me for Jack to be a bit unhappy.. So tomorrow I'll give him some Seasol at 50%, best thing for heat stress.. Thanks for tuning in mates!!

Howdy mates!!! Good to have yous back 👍 Jack beefed up last week 💪😮 a lot.. Almost doubled in size and secondary growth is coming in strong, very beefy.. And that stem looks like a tree trunk lol.. That's because I like to take my babies to the gym between day 7 and 14.. Just holding the cotyledons with a toothpick and wiggle or bend it 3 times in each direction, 3-4 times a day.. That's 4 sets of 12 reps for 7 days, might water in some whey protein haha Anyway, really impressed with how Jack is looking.. You still see where it was heat stressed before, but sweet Lord, that new growth looks so nice 😎 We are pretty much on the 5th node so anytime soon will be topping time.. The plan for Jack will be a manifold for 32 colas and based on blackwidow's manifolding technique, be sure to check him out, beautiful stuff!! As my timing skills (more the lack of them) are well documented in this and other diaries, the challenge is to keep him in this current setup for as long as his health and happiness allow it. I am lowering the lighting hours from 18 to 14 (now at 16) to slow down growth and to start preparing for the outdoor daylight time. Doesn't really seem to work 😂 See how we go, I'm already stoked with how Jack looks now.. Although it starts to be a pain in the nuts to water him lol.. Take care everyone, thanks for the support ✌️

Day 24: Jack got his first haircut this morning!😎 Was reading some more about training and it seems that you can add 1 week of veg each time you top due to the plant recovering instead of growing.. Even if it's a bit less, still sounds like music to my ears 😂 Planning to top 5 times to 32 colas and manifold the **** out of it.. Because of me topping today, LST should start after 1 week so Jack will move outside next weekend!! Tomorrow I will start hardening him off until the big day next weekend!! Day 25: Jack experienced his first moments in the Wild Wild Outdoors today!! 🤠 Should've started yesterday with 2h shade but I figured the haircut would've been enough stress for the day. Got 4h off the bat today from 9am-1pm and seemed to love it! Both growing tips are definitely longer than yesterday so Jack is back on track!! ✌️ Day 28: Howdy people!! Welcome back 👍 Another week in the books for the Emperor and a pretty excited one as well.. Jack took all the stress I gave him with ease and is more than ready to leave the nest this Sunday 😁 Lights are down to 14h on and Jack was out for 8h today in partial sun.. Might've been full sun as the leaves looked a bit funny when I finished work today but nothing to worry about.. Cheers boys and girls, see yous next week!! ✌️

Good day everyone!! Hope yall are good and healthy!! For my own comfort (as in watering, feeding, keeping a diary, etc) I will end a week when plants are planted outside, mostly on a Sunday so in the case of Jack and Baby Sister Strawberry their week will start 3 days earlier than suppose to but all good.👍 Today, September 20th, officially kicks off my first proper Ozzy Outdoor Grow!! Jack got transplanted this morning under a beautiful morning sun 🌞😎 I prepped his pot yesterday by burying the same size pot at the height I would bury Jack.. Left the pot like that outside for a whole day/night in the rain so was just absolutely perfect to start with this morning. I chose to invest in soil this grow and for this first time I went with a basic Organic Living Soil recipe. I also have a misses to keep happy so if I can blow her (and hopefully my) tits off time harvest comes, I know already extra additional amendments I would use and ofcourse I would go bigger 😁 But first things first, the recipe: You can see pictures of the soil making process in Week 1 of this diary - 1 part Worm Castings - 1 part OGS Spagnum Peat Moss - 1 part OGS Premium Aeration Mix: Premium Aeration Mix is perfect to keep your soil aerobic. It is composed of Pumice (55%), Rice Hulls (40%) and Zeolite (5%) to bring fantastic air-filled porosity, room for microorganisms to live, additional cationic exchange capacity and slow release Nitrogen and Silica to your soil. Then following products were added at 1/2 cup per cubic feet (7Gal) : - Kelp Meal: Kelp Meal is an excellent source of NPK along with over 60 micronutrients. It has many complex carbohydrates such as Alginic acid, Mannitol, as well as plant plant hormones like Cytokinins, Indoles, Auxins and Gibberellins. These hormones are involved in a variety of process's from enhancing vegetative growth and flowering, all the way through to reducing shock from transplanting, over watering and heat-shock. It is rich in amino acids and minerals which enhance microbial life enormously, helping to ensure a better crop. - 22% mineral content overall - 50% Carbohydrates - 6% Amino Acids - 2% Sulfur (Helps ensure you get the tastiest, most terpene rich harvest possible) - Neem Cake: Neem Cake provides a great source of NPK with values of 4-2-2 respectively and is commonly used in soil mixes and topdressings to provide adequate nutritional support to your plants. On top of this neem has phenomenal Integrated Pest Management (IPM) properties, which occurs through its production of molecules such as Azadirachtin, Salannin and Nimbin, which act as an antifeedant for over 200 species of insects. - Oyster Shell Flour: Oyster Shell Flour is a premium Calcium source that takes longer to break down than other Calcium sources. This means by using Oyster Shell Flour you significantly reduce the risk of lockout issues arising when compared with alternative Calcium sources, which can be completely broken down in a few weeks in an active enough rhizosphere. - Fin 'N' Feather Meal: Fin 'N' Feather Meal contains several components that will provide an abundance of N-P-K to your soil over time. It is long release and will not burn your plants! In microbial rich soil it is an excellent way to quickly provide nitrogen to your garden. Fin 'N' Feather Meal has a superior N-P-K profile and benefit to feather meal since it contains higher levels of calcium to help mobilise the macro-molecules it is accompanied by. I normally would add Crab Meal or Crustacean but the guys from OGS told me to add more Fin 'N' Feather Meal and use their OGS Water Supplement (Hydro Frass): By providing in an easily soluble form of an abundance of minerals, complex sugars, natural plant hormones, amino acids, humic acids, fulvic acids and azomite in the appropriate ratios, Organic Gardening Solutions 'All-In-One' Water Supplement works to alleviate plant stress and promote vigorous growth of both the plants and the microbial populations present in your garden. Components: -Dehydrated Coconut Water: Coconut powder brings to the mix an abundance of cytokinins and auxins which are essential hormones that work together to regulate apical growth and root growth, promote cytokinesis (cell division), and have been shown to slow down senescence by preventing the breakdown of proteins. Also present are amino acids, macro-nutrients, micro-nutrients and other auxin analogues to assist in seed development and flower development, and several mono- and polysaccharides which promote microbial growth. -Dehydrated Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera powder is rich in Salicylic Acid, which plays a role in plant growth, photosynthesis, ion uptake and transport, as well as in the resistance to pathogens through the production of pathogenesis-related proteins. Humic & Fulvic Acid: Humic and Fulvic acids are organic polymers which co-ordinate and chelate macro-molecules/metals, and assist in facilitating their uptake. They also act to neutralise soil pH, allowing trace elements once bound in the soil to become available to the plant. Fulvic acids have an oxygen content over twice that of humic acids and as such are much more chemically reactive, with an exchange capacity more than double that of humic acids. Because of their small size, fulvic acid molecules can enter plant roots, stems and leaves, carrying trace minerals from plant surfaces into plant tissues. When humic and fulvic acids are applied to soil, increased root growth rates are observed. Kelp Meal (soluble): Kelp Meal is high in K, and is a source of trace minerals, amino acids, plant micro-nutrients and natural plant hormones. Azomite (soluble): Azomite is a trace element source, conditioning agent and helps plants better absorb nutrients from soil. The rare earth elements present in Azomite enhance nitrogen fixation by Azotobacter species, which bind atmospheric nitrogen and release it as ammonium ions into the soil. Furthermore, the Azomite present in our 'SuperSoil' acts to reduce stress caused by drought by enhancing Abscisic acid (ABA) production, in turn minimizing the water lost by a plant in transpiration. -Chitosan (Soluble Chitin): Chitin is a potent immuno-modulator within the plant, resulting from stimulation of the SAR (systemic aquired resonce) pathway, which stimulates a variety of benneficial process' within the plant. These range from increased terpene and flavinoid production, greater heat bug and stress resistance as well as a greater uptake of nutrients. Chitosan is your secret wepon to providing an unparalled harvest. As you can tell I mulched the Emperor with a bit less than an inch of Alfalfa Meal: Alfalfa contains the naturally occurring growth hormone triacontanol which improves the root system, develops root mass and enhances photosynthesis via secondary messengers which overall results in larger crops. Triacontanol can improve yields by 50% !!! 🤯🤯🤯😂😂😂 O, and I LST'ed as well 👍 First few tie downs will be on the sides of the fabric pot until I don't need to give extra light anymore (moving him around) and by then I should finish the plant saucers so they're mobile and with nails all around to tie down on 😉 As for now I am going to give Jack some rest until he gives me signs that he's ready for more.. 😁 Because topping number 2 is not too far away 💪 Thanks for making it this far and as always much appreciated for following along!! Stay safe, Cheers 🍻 Edit: Added some more details on the Hydro Frass

Good day friends!! 👍 Jack did great last week, loved his new home and did not give a dusty f#@k for the wet and at some nights cold weather we had.. Pretty much doubled in size and new growth looks less bushy (more internodal space) but still vigorous 💪 Due to some rainy weather and for sure with the alfalfa mulch I didn't watered until today and I'm sure I didn't had to, just wanted to give a bit of a treat.. Also did the 2nd round of topping so probably next week will be round 2 of LST, hopefully by then I changed the current planter to the prototype Barry is rocking and LST can be done that way 😎 Make sure to check Jack's siblings diaries as well!! As always, thanks again for peeping in!! 👍✌️

Regarding manifolding/mainlining: Is there any difference or what would be preferred between: Topping as early as possible in week1 and LST new growtips in week2 vs letting stuff grow out for 2 weeks and Top and LST new growtips at the same time? Cheers 👍

Hey! For me it all comes down to how healthy are your plants. If they're growing vigorously I go ahead and Top n' LST at the same time. Then as she grows I continue the process fast. It's worked great for me, they bounce back fast and it's less time lost training and waiting. BUT I REPEAT it all comes down to how healthy they are. If your really interested in mainling take a look at this tutorial. It's a step by step on everything you need to know and do on main-lining. https://www.growweedeasy.com/mainlining-nugbuckets Hope this helped. Good luck and happy growing!

Good day Boys and Girls, welcome back 👍 I had to postpone Jack and Barry's diaries for a day due to tight deadlines to finish the planters and the shade/misting house and ofcourse baby sister Strawberry taking away most of yesterday's attention. But here we are so let's do this 😉 Jack had no issues with last week's 2nd topping and I would say he roughly doubled in size (keep forgetting to measure like I used to 🙄). Just like Barry who's out 1 week now they get a bit more stretchy than before but that had to be due to the superior CFL power they were given in their first weeks 🤣 As for today, only thing I did was attach the original LST to the planters and removed the fan leaves. I thought I would be able to do the 2nd round of LST as well but after trying 1 it seems I need a bit more growth on all 4 tips for something more/stronger to pull on. Probably next week 😎 Did not water since last week because we had some rain (not that I would have to otherwise) so today I gave a bit of a treat with Seasol at 50%. Next week they all get Seasol at 100% for a last time, after that I will start using the water supplements and do a weekly foliar spray with fresh Aloe Vera. First topdressing should be at the start of November 🤓 Info regarding soil, amendments and supplements can be found in week 5 and pictures of the soil-making process in week 1 of this diary 😉 Cheers for stopping by, that's all folks 😁✌️ Thanks for checking in everyone!!

Good day friends, watsup 👍 Jack started week 9 under a glorious sunshine and did good last week. Had a few days of cloudy, rainy weather but other than some dusty leaves Jack didn't seem to care.. 👏 I finally was able to comfortably tie down the 4 growtips from before. Sure I could've done it earlier but in waiting the growtips were also ready to be topped again. I like this routine better than topping in week A and LST in week B. Instead, I will wait 2 weeks to let the current growtips grow and then I repeat today's process (LST new tips and top them) 😉 Jack, like his siblings, seem to like his home and is growing very well with no feeding and extra watering. Today they all got 1,5L Seasol at 50% but I'm sure I didn't really had to, that alfalfa mulch acts almost like a lid 😁 The surface is dry and crispy (hard) but underneath is soft, warm and full of activity.. That's the reason for Jack's mulch to look a bit rough, I wanted to bury last weeks fan leaves but yeah, not the best idea and probably it slowly starts to decompose as well. Hopefully I have enough of it because I love it so far!! Cheers 🍻👍✌️

Hey, Today I noticed all my outdoor plants have pistils after being 3-5weeks outside. Is this normal and will they continue veg due to increasing days/temps? Also, could this be reversed with additional light? Currently in the 7th week of Spring with 14h light and 13h sunrise.

Hi mate yes they will continue to veg if the day lengths are at 13 hours per day the pistils showing are just letting you know her sex and that she is physically ready to flower IF you wanted her to but with the 13 hrs of daily sunshine she should remain in veg until the days get shorter again usually early to mid Feb down under. A trick you can use to keep a plant vegging is to use solar lights close to the plants that will provide just enough light to trick your plant into thinking the days are longer than they really are Good luck mate

Howdy peeps, how are we going? 👍 10 weeks in the books for Mr. Jack and man did he scared me 😂 3 days ago I noticed al my plants were showing sex and even starting little buds (at least so I thought) and stretching a bit so pretty much Red Alert in my head 😁 I did a bit of reading and asked for advice here and I was relieved to get to know that they are mature and showing sex. A little bit of extra light would help in making sure they get back/stay in vegetation gear. I got advised to use one of those solar path lights to fool them into longer days and I have no doubt that works perfect enough as a safety barrier to keep them from flowering. I however wanted something that could also have more purpose/functions so I got myself a LED flood light instead. 😉 It's bright as f#*k 😎😂 pics shown in last week. Some smart soul also pointed out to back down on Seaweed as that's high in K (= flower). Little did he know that few days prior I gave them Seasol at full strength and all of a sudden I heard a coin drop 🤓 Let exactly that be the thing that was not planned for/not necessary in whole this organic living soil process, adding seaweed. I just watered with rainwater today just to soak the alfalfa mulch which is almost completely N so should help to balance things out a bit. See how we go. Jack got topped today as well and has now 16 colas 😉 Thanks for checking in and special thanks to everyone who gave advice!! Really appreciate it 💪 Cheers ✌️

Good day people, how are we today 👍 Jack kicks off this week updates because he probably is the least excited one of this week's round 😁 First a few updates to bring everyone up to speed: -Wednesday I topdressed with Fin 'N' Feather (forgot to take a picture of the actual topdressing because I had a visitor and as you can maybe tell it was raining and getting dark as well so I was a bit under the pump 😂). -Thursday I did som LST with wire to prepare to get rid of the pegs (what a pain that was that topdressing). -Saturday I gave them their first foliar spray with fresh Aloe Vera gel. From now on this will be done weekly until flowering. Today was a gorgeous day, best day of the week 😎 Jack is still the only one not completely growing out of his showing sex phase. But yeah, he has 16 tips to convince, the others only 8 or 1. Also the weather was anything but ideal last week so that's why I decided not to stress him out too much this week untill I see more progress next week. Today I just tightened up the wires a bit to make everything as even as I could. Got rid of the pegs after so it's up to him now. 💪 Next watering I will start adding the water supplements as well. Lights have been on as planned, gradually lowering untill sunset on 18/11 🤓 Alrighty mates, 1 down 2 diaries to go 😂 Thanks everybody and see yous next time!! Stay safe!! 👍✌️

Howdy fellas, what's happening 👍 Let's catch up on last Monday's first watering with the added organic supplements. See week 5 of this diary for a detailed explanation 😉 I kept a close eye on Jack throughout the week but unfortunately I didn't get the recovery I was hoping for, I almost was not sure to select Vegative or Flowering for this week's update 😓 Not that I'm giving up on him tho, I'm just a bit more realistic about the possible consequences like less (if any) yield and going hermie. I thought about bringing him inside for 12/12 and let him flower but I don't want/need that hassle in my life 🤣 That's why he will stay with the Fam, with equal care but less training/updates. Until Jack tells me different ofcourse 💪 Thanks everybody, take care 👍✌️

Hello buddies, how are we going 👍 Jack had his little 15min of fame earlier this week so not much happening today. 😂 I finished adjusting the shade house, just in time for the first 40°C day tomorrow Good to test the misting system tho 😉 I will let Jack be and I'll look into trimming the buds. I'm keeping an eye on single finger leaves as well but as of today there were none to be seen. 🤓 For now they are still on the same routine of Aloe foliar spray on Saturday evening and supplemented watering on Sunday and somewhere midweek depending on the weather. Eventually that will be 2 waterings midweek when things are heating up. I will keep you guys posted 😉 Cheers fellas, catch yas next week ✌️ Edit: Added some pictures of today's bud trimming

The Fam doing alright. No more added light as days are 14h long. All of them seem to preflower for a second time? Next week I will topdress because I reckon they're due for a feed 😉
