New week of progress and mistakes... maybe... 😂
There's a lot going on, so lets get at it....
The week started off good. Cleaned up the bottom nodes but left the big fan leaves... Seen this done elsewhere and wanted to try for myself. Each fan leave is for storing energy for that arm... by removing the arm (node), the fan leaf is still collecting and storing energy and will directed towards the growth of the plant.... lets see! 👊
The mainline training starts after a few days of recovery. I'll use green garden ties and U stakes. Once they're in a nice horizontal position, we'll let them rest again.
Now, the next couple of days is where I might have made a slight mistake....😲 I usually top again as soon as I SEE the 2nd set of nodes on the new arms... (Top at the first set), but this time I thought I would give them a couple of more days... I shouldn't have... 👉👺👈
All that did was waste two days of recovery/growth because the energy went to the main top instead of the 1st set of nodes. Lesson learned!!! Do what I know...😂 which still isn't much... 😂😅
Truthfully, all the mistake did was add about a week to my veg time. I was planning mainlining 8 colas, but might need to go with 4 because of timeline restraints... But... If they recover quickly and grow as quick, then we might have 8 new arms!!!
I'm watering 500ml every 3 days due to recovery... soon they'll want more. I don't mention the pH much... that's due to the organic soil balancing out the plain tap water... which has a neutral pH 7. I have to say it makes for easier growing 😀.
Wonder what next week has in store.... 😵
Grow big and stay safe! 😜
@Blacklisted, In my past grows, I had more larf (small buds, popcorn buds) then I wanted. After alot of research of different training methods, and from my own experiences... I believe by removing the larf within the first 3-4 weeks of flower, that it will direct all the growing energy towards the tops... whether it be the main colas or the satellite arms. That way, you end up with bigger and tighter nugs.
In previous grows, if I removed the larf, I usually snipped the fans leaves as well. This time, I'm leaving them to help with the shock and to have more area for light absorption. I will remove any big leaves if they are in the way of buds growing and if I need better air flow.
This is my first test with this type of training to see if it truly works.
Happy Growing!😁
