Placed in glass of water on 11/8/20 at 11:45 p.m. Will be using paper towel method after 24 hour soak in glass of water. My first Night Owl grow. 👍
Removed from water and placed in paper towel on 11/9 at 10:30 p.m. After developing 1" taproot, placed 1/2" deep in soil on 11/11 at 10 a.m.: about 36 hours in paper towel.
Extremely low humidity (winter in Midwest US); trying to keep at about 55-60% RH.
Also: I changed the ventilation set-up. This time around, the fan (new AC Infinity T4) is inside the tent; added a silencer outside of the tent, which vents out the window.
👉Day 1 (11/13): Plants emerged early morning. Light height at 1 m with intensity set at two notches above 50%. 24 hours prior to placing germinated seeds in pot, the pots (3 gal.) were watered to runoff with 2 l/pot; Voodoo Juice added. Will be trying TaNg's easy auto feeding schedule, adding B-52, Voodoo Juice, Great White mycorrhizae (top-dressed bi-weekly), and Cal-Mag (when needed.)
Soil is Bio Bizz light mix and perlite (70/30). Square Farmer saucers.
Total time to break soil: 18 hour water soak, 36 hours in paper towel, 48 hours in soil.
👉 Day 6 (11/18): Turned light intensity down to one notch above 50%. Some minor upward curling on leaves of sister plant (Toofless Alien) also in tent. Will water tomorrow.
👉 Day 7 (11/19): Watered with Voodoo Juice, B-52, & Great White (.25 tsp per 2 l) ph'd to 6.5. Turned light intensity down to 50%.
Next watering: Water, Voodoo Juice, & B-52.
👉 Day 8 (11/20): On schedule. Taller than tentmate, but leaves coming in slower. Will water tomorrow.
👉 Day 9 (11/21): Watered with Voodoo Juice and B-52.
👉 Day 12 (11/24): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l) and B-52.
👉 Day 13 (11/25): She's thickening up at the base and grew over an 1" in two days--responding well to the nutrients 👍 Increased light intensity to one notch above 50%; may increase to two notches on Day 15. Light cycle switched to 18/6. Not a heavy drinker at this point.
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l) and B-52.
Next application of Great White: around 12/3.
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 15 (11/27): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l) and B-52. Having difficulty with smart timer and may order another. Back to 24/0 light cycle for now. Maybe this is a sign she (and her partner) want the full light treatment 😇
👉 Day 17 (11/29): Making good progress. Noticed some minimal lightening on the tips of new growth. Will keep Sensi Bloom A&B levels at .75ml/l for the next watering to monitor health.
👉 Day 18 (11/30): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l) and B-52. First sign of pre-flowers on newest node; seems common to recent F1 cultivars from Night Owl: https://www.reddit.com/r/nightowlseeds/comments/jvburc/galaxy_brain_judy_gemstone_day_18_preflower/
👉 Day 19 (12/1): Started using 90-degree clips to bend oldest fan leaves. Aiming to use the clips as LST strategy to create an even canopy.
👉 Day 21 (12/3): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l), B-52, and Great White. White tips on new growth remain, which I think may be a magnesium deficiency. If the new growth's tips come in white over the next couple of days, I'll bump the Sensi Bloom nutrients to 1 ml/l.
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 or 1 ml/l) and B-52.
Next application of Great White (.25 tsp per 2 l): around 12/10. Probably switching to weekly.
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 22 (12/4): Some leaf tucking to expose more sites and encourage branching. Little to no LST right now, since her natural shape is wide.
👉 Day 24 (12/6): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l) and B-52. Flowering has begun on main cola. 👌
👉 Day 25 (12/7): Leaf tucking is pretty constant, though the stretch is on. Preliminary sign of Mg deficiency. Will add Cal-Mag (.5ml/l) in next watering. Also lowered light intensity to 2 notches above 50%; the tips of the new growth were white. 12.5"
👉 Day 26 (12/8): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (1.25 ml/l), B-52, and Cal-Mag. Tips of new leaves have started to turn yellow, which might mean overfertilization. (I was slowly working my way up to 2 ml/l of Sensi Bloom A&B for day 30, but probably have to dial that back!) 13"
👉 Day 27 (12/9) 13.75" height.
👉 Day 28 (12/10): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), B-52, and Cal-Mag. Defoliation of 50/50 lower leaves and small bud sites low on the plant. 14" height (stretch slowing down?).
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 or 1.25 ml/l), B-52, and Cal-Mag.
Next application of Great White (.25 tsp per 2 l): around 12/17.
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 29 (12/11): 14" height. The stretch might be done. . . .
👉 Day 30 (12/12): Watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), B-52, Voodoo Juice, and Cal-Mag. Went back to 1 ml/l on the Sensi Bloom A&B because of yellow tips on new growth. Will continue to monitor, but this is when the plant should be at 2 ml/l according to the schedule I'm following. (She'll tell me what she needs!) Without many interior leaves, she looks spindly, and I'm hoping that means strong bud development down the stems with the amount of light that gets through. 😛 Smell is a nice mix of orange with some faint diesel. 16" height; the stretch is far from over, too 👍
👉 Day 31 (12/13): 16.5" height.
👉 Day 32 (12/14): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), B-52, Voodoo Juice, and Cal-Mag. 17" height. Defoliated lower fan leaves and some inward-facing leaves.
👉 Day 33 (12/15): 17.5" height. First signs of frost ❄️☃️
👉 Day 34 (12/16): Watered with with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), Voodoo Juice, Cal-Mag, and Great White (.25 tsp per 2 l; top-dress). Decided to remove the B-52 until later in flowering to see if lowering the nitrogen levels will help with the yellow tips. Removed flowering sites and stems near the bottom of the plant, in hopes that this will promote larger cola growth. She's initially showed signs of stress, but recovered fully in 6-8 hours. Since the strain description mentions "golf ball" nugs down the length of the stems, I'll be taking it easy on the lower flowering sites. 18" height.
👉 Day 35 (12/17): Still stretching: 19" height. Added an LST clip on the lowest remaining stem just for fun 😗 May get a little nug for the trouble. Smells like orange gas.
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), Cal-Mag, and Carboload.
Will research to see if Great White can/should be added weekly (.25 tsp per 2 l; top-dress).
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 36 (12/18): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), Cal-Mag, and Carboload. 20" height (same as Day 35).
👉 Day 37 (12/19): 20" height. Quick finisher? (Probably a few days ahead of her tentmate.)
👉 Day 38 (12/20): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), Cal-Mag, and Carboload. Still 20" height. Really interested in seeing the golf-ball shaped nugs. Still some nutrient issues, but I'll stay with 1 ml/l of the Sensi Bloom A&B one more watering before considering lowering the dosages.
👉 Day 39 (12/21): 20.5" height. Probably not an accurate measurement after three days of no stretching. Flowers have started to develop.
👉 Day 40 (12/22): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), Cal-Mag, and Carboload. Will cut out Cal-Mag with next watering. 20.75" height. That previous measurement sure was accurate 👿
👉 Day 41 (12/23): 21.75" height. Just keeps going 😲
👉 Day 42 (12/24): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B and Carboload. 21.75" height.
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (1 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.5 or 1 ml/l).
Next application of Great White around 1/1/21 (.25 tsp per 2 l; top-dress).
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 43 (12/25): Smells like orange jelly candy chem. 21.75" height--same reading as Day 42.
👉 Day 44 (12/26): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.5 ml/l ramping up to 1 ml/l). 21.75" height. Settled in.
👉 Day 45 (12/27): Minor leaf tucking. The stretch has stopped, but she's widening out! May need to get some stakes.
👉 Day 46 (12/28): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 ml/l).
👉 Day 48 (12/30): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 ml/l). (Planning on some minor defoliation after next watering; there are so many hungry bud sites 🤞🏽)
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 or 1 ml/l depending on response of new leaves).
Next application of Great White around 1/1/21 (.25 tsp per 2 l; top-dress).
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 50 (1/1): Happy 2021! Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 ml/l); added a top-dress of Great White. Forgot to dechlorinate some tap water and used RO water this time around to maintain beneficial bacteria and fungi. Some defoliation of 50% leaves. Buds are thickening slowly but surely, and the gas is challenging the orange candy scent.
👉 Day 52 (1/3): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.75 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 ml/l), with some minor defoliation. I'll be increasing the Overdrive with the next watering due to tentmate's deficiency (and my laziness).
👉 Day 54 (1/5): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (1 ml/l), with some minor defoliation.
👉 Day 56 (1/7): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (1 ml/l). She's responding well to the lower amount of Sensi Bloom A&B, and the buds are stacking (just starting to swell, too). Will start checking trichomes around Day 60.
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (1 ml/l).
Next application of Great White around 1/8 (.25 tsp per 2 l; top-dress).
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 57 (1/8): Just enjoying the smells. Will reduce Overdrive to .75 ml/l next watering. Trichomes mostly clear with <5% cloudy.
👉 Day 58 (1/9): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 ml/l).
👉 Day 60 (1/11): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 ml/l). Trichomes are about 5% cloudy, and I'll continue watering with nutrients until about 10-20% cloudy. (2-week flush planned.)
👉 Day 62 (1/13): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.5 ml/l) with more aggressive defoliation (only on watering days).
Next watering with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.75 ml/l).
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 64 (1/15): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.5 ml/l) with some defoliation.
👉 Day 66 (1/17): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.5 ml/l) with more aggressive defoliation (removing leaves at 40-50% fade).
👉 Day 68 (1/19): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.5 ml/l), Carboload, and Overdrive (.5 ml/l). Not much defoliation needed. About 25-30% cloudy, and waiting until 50% cloudy to start a few days of flush. Will probably start stepping down nutrients/supplements even more next watering. Tried a tester nug after a 4-day dry; much stronger than I expected (2-3 hours of effect), but there was a nice psychedelic effect: something like the left and right sides of vision rushing and pulsing past the head. (Also: a strange narcotic effect in the throat!)
👉 Day 69 (1/20): Turned up light intensity to 1.5 notches above 50%, and the upper leaves are only showing mild serrations on leaf edges. Trying to encourage (and speed up!) trichome and bud development.
👉 Day 70 (1/20): Light intensity at 1.5 notches below 75%; hopefully, I can gradually increase it to 75%. Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.25 ml/l), Carboload (.5 ml/l), and Overdrive (.25 ml/l).
Next watering: Sensi Bloom A&B (.25 ml/l), Carboload (.5 ml/l), and Overdrive (.25 ml/l).
Thanks for stopping by! 😷
👉 Day 71 (1/22): Responding well to light intensity @ 1.5 notches below 75%; hopefully, I can gradually increase it to 75%. Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.25 ml/l), Carboload (.5 ml/l), and Overdrive (.25 ml/l). At about 35-40% cloudy trichomes. Planning on starting flush at 50%.
👉 Day 72 (1/23): Watered with Sensi Bloom A&B (.25 ml/l), Carboload (.5 ml/l), and Overdrive (.25 ml/l). Light intensity at 75% with very minor serration issues. Lower leaves look unchanged, but new white pistils emerged; buds plumping up.
👉 Day 74 (1/25): Watered with plain ph'd water. Lowered light intensity to two notches above 50% since new white pistils started to emerge. Hopefully, the plain waterings will provide a better kind of stress. Trichomes are at about 40-45% milky.
👉 Day 76 (1/27): Watered with pd'd RO water. Lowered light intensity even more, to about 1/2 notch above 50%. Buds are ripening now, with 45-50%% cloudy trichomes. Medium-intensity defoliation. Smells like orange candy gas.
Next watering: Plain ph'd water for the remainder of the grow.
👉 Day 78 (1/29): First time she and her tentmate are on different watering schedules; no watering today. Medium-intensity defoliation. Looks like she'll take a 4-5 days more, if her leaves let her. . . .
👉 Day 79 (1/30): Watered with ph'd tap water. Hovering at about 45-50% cloudy trichomes. Will probably harvest sometime after Wednesday of this week.
👉 Day 82 (2/2): Watered with ph'd tap water. Trying to catch her color changes, as I'm keeping the tent between 68-70 degrees at night. Light schedule changed to 18/6.
👉 Day 84 (2/4): Watered with ph'd tap water with some defoliation. Her tentmate is feeling some stress, so she's coming down on Day 86 after a couple of days drying. The tester nug last week was pretty impressive and better than the previous weeks, so it's time. . . .
Next watering: none! Harvest and drying next. Hoping to get a 5-7 day dry out of her.
👉 Day 85 (2/5): Lights off! Will harvest after a 24-hour dark period. Pretty happy with the grow, and excited to see if this grow improved over the last. I'll be sure to give more intense light during flowering next time around, since I think the buds could developed more up and down the stems. ✌️🏽🦉🌿
👉 Day 86 (2/6): Harvested! Will be doing a dry trim this time around, so I just removed fan leaves. (The leaves are extremely small compared to other plant's fan leaves--almost annoyingly so!) The buds are pretty solid, and there's just a little larf on some branches I was experimenting with. Now drying in the tent at 68ºF & ≈45% RH. (Will post harvest info/page after drying, since I forgot to weigh her wet.) 🦉🌿
An after-work or after-dinner smoke. Seems like a well-balanced hybrid. There's a slow onset. Pretty nice psychoactive experience, with heightened energy and headband effect. When it hits the body, there's no couchlock, but you won't mind sitting still to game, listen to music, or watch a show/flick. If you have a second session, you might need a nap! Great strain. 👍🏽🥤
One-month cure update: smells like sour blackberries, with a faint berry aftertaste.
EQ is a little sensitive with the nutrients. I never could get above 1 ml/l with the base nutrients, and I should have probably scaled back to .5 ml/l to make her happy. She needs a *ton* of light, especially for her structure. The colas won't get huge, and there are lots of flowering sites up and down the stem that need exposure to light. (She grew alongside a plant with nice-sized colas who loved the light's intensity setting, but this EQ produced quite a bit of popcorn buds and larf.) She can shine if given the opportunity. She was harvested at about 50% cloudy trichomes, and she's a heavy smoke and pleasant vape. 🦉🌿
OOOOoooohhh baby!!!! I got some buns in the oven too! had to look up and see if anyone else was doing a Halloween drop grow yet!!!!! gonna keep an eye on things!!! Good Luck to you sir!!!!
I'll be chasing you!!!!
@MrHightimes, Awesome 👻 I'm following yours, too! She's been really easy; started slower than her tentmate (Mephisto's Toofless Alien) but has taken the lead! (Did you get any others from the Halloween drop? I'm thinking of running Spotless Mind next. . . .)
@Rock_n_Roll_Randy, No doubt! Looks like your TSW2000 is treating you well! Thanks for checking the grow out. Just got a SP3000 for the next run. . . . 🦉🌿
