Planted seeds 6/nov in jiffy cubes. just ph balanced water. In tent with 24-28 C, 50-60% RH. Lights on 18/6 about 36 inches from Jiffy cubes. Cubes are just sitting in plastic cups. Everything sprayed first with 5% bleach water spray. First emerged from pellets on 12/Nov. taproots were emerging from the bottom of both cubes, so I immediately transferred them to small plastic pots for the next few weeks.

Using the mars hydro tsw2000. -struggling to get to temp and RH that is recommended for 0.4-0.8 VPD. If I go higher than 25% power on the light dimmer, my temps jump to 30 C and humidity drops to 45%. The best I can do is 26-28C, 48%-55% RH. Is this ok for young seedlings??

Hi! You can add a wet towel in to the tent and even better if you put it to a bucket filles with water. Also you can cut plastic bottle on half and place it as a dome but dont put the cap on so the air can exchange still

Transferred seedling into pre-washed, pre-buffered coco with 25% perlite. Plan is to transfer to 20 Litre (5 gallon) fabric pots when they’re ready. Will be adding vermiculite to the mix when they get transferred. Climate control got real on day 5. The MH tsw2000 is probably a bit too big for this tent but I’m dialing it in... I can lower the light output with the dimmer knob and bring the light closer to the plants.

Got the EC under control, feeding 1-2 times per day. Once I have the EC of the runoff close to the nutrient solution I might skip the next feed and check runoff EC again. I got fast growth in the first 24 hours after dialing in the EC and increasing the frequency of the fertigation. They are gaining speed. Day 11-13 the WW is showing signs of heat stress (I think)

Hey fellow gardeners, Is this young White Widow showing signs of heat stress? With lights on, my tent is a constant 26-28 C (79 - 83 F) and RH is 64%-74%. And I do trust my sensors. Mars Hydro TSW2000 turned down to ~40% intensity. Light was ~ 10” from leaves. Growing in coco.

I wouldn't worry about it, Cannabis plants can grow strange leaves at times, but I would try 24 inches at 75% as a first option to see if that helps, if you are really worried about the leaves.

Did first round of topping on Day 19. Struggling to keep it cool in the tent. It’s small and in a storage closet under the stairs! Bk very different to WW. WW really showing some of its sativa genes with the lankiness. Internodal spacing on the WW is much more manageable for when I start topping and training. I used to grow Bubba Kush x OG Kush from seed and I don’t remember it being this short!! Finally on Day 18 I got some automatic drip feed with drain to waste- look at the photos; the plants are now getting fed via the hydro halos 3 times/day. WW topped cleanly with a good stump; BK is so compact that I struggled to get a clean snip and might have damaged one of the side shoots 😑

So. Hard. Growing. In. A. Storage. Closet. 🤬 Topped the bubba kush a tad early and by mistake chopped one of the big fan leaves. No biggie, just adds character. Auto feed with halos is ok but there are a few dry spots it appears. So I’ve added clay pellets to the top layer to help disperse. The drain to waste part is tricky but I finally got a 2 vessel system from a hydro shop. Top vessel has a false bottom that drips the runoff. Training the WW on day 25 - wow she is showing some awesome growth since the transplant. Only topped her once and she’s showing clear signs of 8 colas. The bubba kush on the other hand..... soooo short and a slow vegger. So damn slow. I’m not happy. Massive pain to train. Won’t be getting this one again.

Ok.... After much stress (on me AND the plants!) I have seemingly fixed my climate issues. I didn’t have enough outside air coming in to the tent. I cut a hole in the wall outside the storage closet where the tent is, and installed a vent that is now connected to 4” ducting going straight into the tent and hooked up to my intake fan. I am now happy to say I am able to run the Mars Hydro light at 100% power- no dimming!- and my tent stays a manageable 26-29 C. The light being at full power, I have raised it to the recommended height and I am finally seeing some stretch again. The girls unfortunately went through a rough time in week 4. I didn’t realise the reservoir pH was rising over a few days and they were getting overwatered with high pH solution and temps were high and clean air was not abundant and they were just after a transplant.... But I have learned now that it’s very hard to maintain a clean, pH stable res with organic nutrients, and so I have gone back to manual feeds for now until I have a good synthetic nutes line that I decide to go with. In the meantime, girls are really bouncing back and have had some decent defoliation and training. The bubba will probably never reach its full potential due to all of the abuse it’s had. It’s clear which of these has stronger genetics (the Dinafem WW). They both went though exactly the same treatment.

The widow gets defoliated about once every Two days. I just can’t get it under control.... The bubba is a sad little plant. Still looks like a few colas will appear. Buds are forming, things are getting exciting. Day14 of 12/12; did a big defoliation and opened up the airflow. Scrog isn’t really as much of a scrog as I would have liked; I need to get a trellis net that has smaller openings for the next grow.

Watching the buds swell. This is fun. 🤩 Hopefully get some good results. Never grew white widow before. The bubba kush has bounced back but just refuses to be trained... until day 19 of flower. Update: I’m adding lots of photos from this week.....I had to bend over some of the main colas because they are just stretching towards the light. Broke one of them by mistake; oh well. Finally got a canopy that I can say is somewhat even and looking like a decent crop will come out from this first coco grow.

I didn’t train The WW very well and there is an uneven canopy. I’ve removed as many of the lower bud sites and branches that I think are likely to be small & tried to supercrop/bend/train the taller colas but my scrog isn’t great and now I’m not sure how high to hang the LED

Ooo, kind of a tough one. You'd want to keep your lights at the perfect height above the highest top. I did notice the right plant is kind of shorter than the left one so what you could do is maybe stack some things under the right pot to keep both plants even. As for the colas being uneven, that should have been dealt with during vegetation and it gets hard to deal with during flowering because the stems harden up. They will still provide you with descent buds but you can take this all as a learning experience. PS: I have the same lights and the same tent 😝

Beginning Week 4 of flower: widow is frosting up all over the place; even seeing trichomes building up on fan leaves. Bubba kush however exhibiting zero visible trichomes. It’s flower sites have set in nicely though and I’m still hopeful for something nice out of her even though she got so much abuse. On first day of Week 4 of flower I noticed a sizeable spread of split leaf growth. It was originally only on the bubba, but now it’s on the widow as well. I will investigate. On day 25 they were fed with only base nutrients and no additives. This is due to me being away for a few days and I set up an auto-feed drip line with a reservoir and chose not to have any organic liquid additives in the res.

I have been monitoring this deformation of leaves over the last week or two. It is now spreading. All I have done lately is gradually reduced the amount of cal-mag; pH is pretty consistent but of course that could have been wrong one day.

Adding the rhino K this week at 2ml/L as recommended by the manufacturer. It definitely raises the EC a fair bit but I’m doing it and will hopefully see some nice swelling. Days 30-33 feeding was automated and included the organic additives in the reservoir. Widow has very strong sweet and fruity smell; bubba kush has much weaker smell, much fewer trichomes, thicker stems

The bubba is showing some yellowing of young leaves inside the buds; likely a micronutrient deficiency (because it’s non-mobile) caused by some excessive nutrient feeding and high ph; I had a few issues in the previous week. On Day 37 I did another round of defoliation because the undergrowth was just getting too thick. Pulled off A bit more of the big leaves from the BK colas which have been getting thicccc

Filtered water 1000 mll
Started flushing with filtered water. The widow had a gradual decline from days 45-49, from EC 2.4 to 0 on day 50. BK on day 50: EC 1.4 Will go down from here. Day 51 started pure flush with only filtered water at 7.0 pH. Day 52 went to 8/16 lights on/off. This is to encourage the bubba kush to finish up faster since it’s slower than the widow and I really don’t want the widow to go any longer than it needs to; The widow is a 55 day strain and the bubba is 63. At least, according to the breeders. And I really don’t want to chop them down at different times since I really only have the tent to use for drying. Day 54 Update: USB Microscope arrived. Apparent ambering on a number of trichomes on the widow. Dinafem says 55 days indoor and i would not disagree. However the 8/16 "early finish" trick appears to be working well with the BK (a 9 week strain) as it has mostly (if not all) milky/cloudy trikes (see day 54 microscope photos)- and, the widow wouldnt hurt with another day or 2. I will be tracking very closely for the next 48 hours. i assume on day 56 i will switch off the light for 48 hr darkness. the BK will just be a bit underripe, but its worth it to chop her early if it means i can chop the widow at the right time. Day 55: trichomes almost entirely cloudy with scattered amber heads on the Bubba Kush. The bud structure on this plant just convinces me even more than before that it’s simply a bit of a mutant phenotype. Looking closely at the photos you will notice the calyxes are poking their heads through the dense foliage with very dense “weave” patterns of biomass. No matter how much I tried, I could not decrease the vegetation and fan leaf production both during veg and flower. Day 55: Widow trichomes practically entirely cloudy, even on lower canopy buds. Upper canopy buds have noticeable amount of amber and golden heads. I would harvest today, but I want to give the BK a few more days. I don’t have easy access to the runoff- long story. I was going in at peak flower with 2.1-2.4 EC. On the high end, that was due to Max level of recommended dosage of the Hydro Bloom A+B from Hygen (2.0 EC) + .6-.8 EC from the Rhino K and the remainder came from the Biodiesel and the Aloevate. (.15-.2 EC together). After a few days of straight water flush, I managed to remove the “scrog net” (never using that again, squares are too wide) and pulled out the bubba kush to measure the runoff. On day 55: runoff 2.1 On day day 56: runoff 1.4 I plan to switch off lights for 48 hour dark period after day 56-57.

What can I say? I admit I was a bit at fault in the middle of veg when I had some issues with maintaining pH levels. However the few days that this plant struggled should not at all amount to what I’ve seen here. 25/75 grams (dry weight) were so fluffy they just crumbled into the trim tray. The entire time I was vegging this plant I struggled to train it or figure out what was going on with it; the internodal spacing was so tight and tiny I couldn’t work with it. I would not grow this again.

@TheUk420Show, So now I’m actually able to get the light to 12” above. With the light at 50%! That’s great- and only because the humidifier is cooling the air. Mars Hydro recommend 18-24” for early stages. 12” at 50% would be in line with their recommendations for optimum PAR

@heizen, Thanks!! To be honest the bubba is really stunted and has gone through so much abuse; first it was topped in a bad way and instead of having an easy recovery it then went through about a week of being overwatered with bad pH regulation and that really was harsh. I’ve managed to resurrect her so she’s now got at least 4 main tops that should do nicely but honestly...I wouldn’t ever want to grow this one again. So damn bushy, nodes are so tight, way too difficult to train. Maybe if I had only short bushy plants all together in the same grow, then I could play around with the light height and other factors to encourage stretching etc but next to the white window which has been so strong, resilient and vigorous the whole way through, it’s taught me a few things about planning my next grow. Cheers!!!
