Sunkiss

Looking good and healthy! I still can’t believe how much more luck I’ve had with solid vs coco when it comes to seedlings. She’s in a little starter cup right now, but will eventually transplant to a small pot. Not planning to grow this as one of my main, just as a project more or less.

Growing well! My only photo plant in the grow currently. I plan to switch to flower closer to the end of the other autos lifecycle, but will probably switch at about 6 weeks or so. (Assuming it’s a girl).

Still growing well! Getting some new leaves and getting a little larger. I think I’ll be attempting my first ‘topping’ in the coming week. I’m hoping it goes well, but it looks like the plant is in a great place to try it out!

Went ahead and took my first ever attempt at topping! Took off the top 2 nodes. It seemed to bounce back fine so far, and some other growth sites are starting to grow. I’ll be upping the nutes this week and am hoping to see some good growth! There’s a chance I’ll start some LST as well.

After topping last week, there was an absolute explosion of growth. Every day showed huge growth. I had some issues with nutes earlier in the week, but after fixing the issue, this plant is doing amazing! I went ahead and did a 2nd topping job on the 2 main colas. I really want to try and get and even canopy. I’m really excited to see what happens! I might do some LST later on once the branches get a little longer. For now I tried out leaf tucking, after just learning about it. It seems like an awesome(and obvious) alternative to defoliation! I plan to start flowering in 2 weeks, and I’m hoping this is a girl!

This thing once again took off like crazy after the 2nd topping! A lot of decent tops are starting to show up, and I plan to switch to flowering tonight. I really like topping and then LST vs just LST. Pretty much just for the sake of evenly spreading over the pot. I’m really hoping this is indeed a girl 🤞🤞

Switched to 12/12 at the beginning of the week. I didn't see any signs of sex until recently, and WOOHOO, it's a girl!! I'm super pumped to see how flowering goes with my first topped plant. And I can't wait to smoke some Sunkiss! I kind of fucked up and didn't realize my light automations got turned off after a power outage here. She got 9 hours of extra light, but I made sure to switch back to the regular 12/12 and am definitely going to pay extra attention to that kind of stuff after power outages. Lesson learned. I also just got a camera and am pumped about trying to get into taking better photos!

This girl is growing nicely! This is the second week where I've done a decent amount of defoliation and pruning, and she honestly seems to be loving it. I went ahead and removed any tiny growth sights and then ended up removing most of the larger fan leaves. I'm trying to get a lot of light to the smaller growth sites in the middle, because I think they'll still make decent size buds. I think she had a nitrogen overload at the beginning of the week, so this week I plan to cut down on nitrogen in the nutes. I'm so happy with how topping and LST has gone so far. A pretty even canopy, and I can just tell that she's going to haves some nice looking buds. She's staying nice and short which has been awesome and just what I was hoping for!

I love how even this canopy is and how short she is overall. The stretch was extremely manageable and with a bit of defoliation, I've been able to keep a decent light source on the lower growth. The buds seem to be coming along nicely! I'm hoping they really start to stack up this week, and I'm also really hoping they get some good growth! This will be a deciding factor for if I top next time or not. It looked like a bit of nitrogen toxicity was occurring, so I dropped the 'FloraGro' and upped the Bloom a bit. I'm hoping that it doesn't fuck anything up! Overall, I'm in love with this plant so far, and I can't wait to see how she continues to do!

Not too much to report on this week. She's still looking good. Seems to be taking to the new feeding regiment well! A little bit of a smell starting to come out, but not really orange scents yet. I did some heavy defoliation and she's looking good and seems to be loving life! I love all of the bud spots appearing up the main stalks.

She's getting nice and sugary! Trichome development has really started ramping up this week. Not too potent smelling yet, but when I rub my fingers on the trichomes, I'm definitely able to smell some pungent orange! I'm still defoliating about once per week. The leaves are growing quickly with this plant! The flowers are bulking up nicely, and my this plant seems to be handling my nutes with no problem! I'm loving how this plant is turning out.

Buds still coming along nicely! Not a whole lot of smell, but these buds are stacking up beautifully! If they fatten up, they're going to be nice sized! Some orange smell starting to develop, and I can only image that it will really start to come out upon ripening! She's looking super frosty already! I love the structure of this plant so much.

Did some small defoliation this week. Not a whole lot to report on. I'm noticing that the tips of my leaves are pointing down a little, but the plant seems to be healthy! A lot more orange pistols started to show up this week. I'll probably start flushing after my next feed. (Which I'm going to really try and max out on). I did end up trying out some new lighting in a few shots, and I really like it! I might try some new lighting for all my shots next time!

Gave her 1 feeding this week and then started flushing! I also did a little bit of slight defoliation. Not a whole lot to report on. Buds are getting a little thicker, and definitely starting to see more orange hairs!

Not a whole lot to report this week. She's still looking good, although some of her leaves are looking and feeling a bit crispy. Other than that, she's doing great! Bud development is coming along well, and the flush is still going! I'm guessing I still might have about 1.5 or 2 weeks left, so I think I may have started flushing a bit early. But, I'm pretty sure she'll be ready before too long, so I'm not too worried. Hopefully, I'm nearing the final stretch!

Another week of flushing. She's getting close now! I imagine that I'll probably end up chopping her down by the end of this week. The aroma coming from this plant is interesting. I think I remember Rasta Jeff describing this smell in his podcast episode about Sunkiss: At the beginning it smells exactly like oranges, and by then end it wreaks of like a nasty-ass armpits. It's dank AF. I can't wait to smoke it!!

Harvesting was pretty easy! The buds stacked well and produced giant nugs if you choose not to manually separate them.
