So I made a risky choice, as I no longer have any lights I've been relying on windowsill daylight. This of course had made them bolt. Far too leggy and my windowsill can't cope with larger pots. I have moved them outdoors into their final pots. It's a week earlier than I'd hoped but we have sunshine ahead, hopefully just in time. Will feed first feed on day 12, light mix of fish mix and maxicrop seaweed ph'd to 5.8 (our water is roughly 8!) Day 9 - very little growth as they adjust to the outdoors and recover from the transplant. Used coffee grounds laid in a ring in a bid to deter slugs and snails (I hate the slug pellets!) Fingers crossed! Day 13- slugs ate my gsc auto yesterday so I have put down slug pellets, albeit organic certified ones. On the plus the sun is out and temps are up!

Finally starting to see new growth after repotting. Weather also drastically improved. My pH was too high last week so have corrected and they are starting to respond. I definitely put them outside a week earlier than I should have. Day 16- watered 1.5L pH 5.8, fed 1l of nutrients pH runoff still too high... Day 18, no watering required, all seems well! Day 19 - even though we are having another cold snap she seems to be growing well Day 20 - fed weak nutrients Day 21 - rain again, cold 10c

Heavy rains and cold temperatures are slowing growth but we still have a long way to go so I'm not overly concerned. Watering is pretty much nonexistent as the rain is already too much. Although continuing the feeding once a week with the weak mix. Next week we up the dosing and top her Day 27 - nice and warm and dry for the next week. Watered and then later fed 500ml of fish mix at 4ml/litre pH 6.2

She's taking off like a rocket for an outdoor, even starting to smell a little! Watered today, but keeping it dry after as rain forecast later in the week Day 36- trimmed back to third node, took 3 clones in the process. Pinned down the tops in preparation for mainline

Day 36- she's responding well to the surgery, so far so good Day 37- f me and my clumsy morning hands. Was adjusting the training on one branch and snapped it clean off. She is going to be one hell of a wonky beauty. On the plus side I now have 4 clones of her instead of 3. If anyone has any tips on how best to train her so she is better balanced I'd welcome them... At the moment my plan is to untie her and then stake her upright and treat the remaining stem as the main one. Day 40- watered and fed

She's recovering from the accident well. I will just LST and defoliate from here on in. Day 44- nothing but rain and storms for the next few days 😑 Day 46- seems to be doing well, two of the clones have rooted now and will be in the greenhouse by next week.

Not much to report. Mainly horizontal growth the last few days as she bushes out a bit after the top. Some light LST tomorrow I think. Fingers crossed it stays dry. Day 58- noticed the new growth is curling, it could be one of a few things. I don't think it's nutrient lockout, although it could be even though pH is fine. I think it's probably just the very high humidity over a few weeks with thunderstorms keeping the soil too wet. I welcome any thoughts Day 62-. She's growing! Leaf curl seems to have stopped getting worse and she is reaching for the sun, hopefully the lockout is over Day 63 - showing a nitrogen deficiency but don't want to add anymore water straight after flushing so foliar fed the same mix I usually use

In picture 3 above the new growth on the main cola sites is curled up and contorted. pH is a tiny bit high, TDs run off is around the 400-600 mark over the week. Humidity has been intense for weeks in the high 70s to mid 80s, I'm only watering to feed once a week. Help!

Hi there! This looks like a Boron deficiency. This is not a common thing! This may come from : 1) Incorrect pH and/or pH fluctuations. 2) Poor nutrients intakes. Are you watering with reverse osmosis? 3) Too much humidity resulting in a lockout, roots can't absorb Boron anymore. As for a solution to help her recover, you can mix a teaspoon of boric acid in 4 liters of water, and see how it goes. I'll be around, keep us up-to-date, and happy growing!

Currently waiting for the soil to dry out after the flush last week so only foliar feeding . It seems to be helping, I need to put aside a few hours to give both my remo chemo and purple CBD some love. Both got lockout from salt buildup and I need to sit down and trim any dead growth, some light LST and TDS and pH the runoff. The old growth is yellowing fast on this one so it better be soon! Otherwise she will lollipop herself! Day 70 - fed nutrients and pH water 6.2. Looks like I will have to do a bit more topping, she's stretching for the sky! Day 66- no water no food, just letting her dry out a bit as I suspect root issues, she's stretching to the sky though so aside from the nitrogen deficiency we're looking good! Day 68- she had dried out nicely, gave her some fish mix and liquid seaweed, 3ml/l and 4ml/l respectively, 2l feed. Have trimmed dead and dying growth. Just going to leave her to it for a week or two

Topped the two main colas to even out the canopy a little and increase lower growth. Added in some cal mag as well to my feeding yesterday, made a difference. She's looking better already! I just want the pH to be a tiny bit lower. Still going ahead with another flush for a week, then I will resume normal feeding

So the flush is finished, TDS has dropped to near tap water levels. I will start with a half strength feed this weekend, and actually take the time to measure the run off from my big beauties Day 79- fed nutrients, pH 6.3 ppm 780, run off was 550ppm, trimmed off old growth Day 81- moved into the greenhouse in preparation for stormy weather in the next few weeks Day 84- little bit of taco on the top leaves, but it's so hot and humid I don't think it can be helped

Lile my remo chemo, I'm Still having problems with this lady. The leaves are a pale green and anytime I up the dose of fish mix I end up with a deficiency elsewhere from lockout. My pH is solid at 6.3 in and out and my ppms are in the right range. I flushed her in week 10/11, and reintroduced half strength nutrients but still no positive growth. Also seems to be a pest issue... Day 89- liberally applied a mix of 5ml/l emulsified neem via atomiser to all plants and removed all spider mite webs Day 88- it's definitely a pest issue rather than anything else. Neem oil on its way. Fed nutes Day 91, fed again, 5l of a new regime 4ml/l fish mix and 4ml/l biogrow, pH 6.2

I water roughly 2.5 litres every 5 days now and when I feed a nutrient solution I use the same volume, is that too much? Is that why I'm constantly seeing lockout deficiencies?

Hi @Stinkygorilla! Seems fine, I usually water with ~20% of the pot/container size. So in your situation, considering you're using 40L containers, I would use 8L. This should flow to the bottom of the pot, and give you a little drain (which can be useful if you want to check ph/ec). However this basic rule does not always apply, sometimes they drink more, sometimes they drink less. Keeping a close eye onto your plant's health will help in finding the perfect amount of water depending on their current stage/health/temp..Hope this helps, keep us up-to-date and happy growing!

She's reaching for the sky! Measured her today and she's stretched nearly two foot in two weeks! I'm now not sure if the greenhouse is tall enough 😒 El superbeasto is now taller than me and nearly touching the roof (6ft), no signs of flowering yet. At this rate I'm going to have to dig a hole to keep her in the greenhouse!

Also removed old or yellow fans Started bloom feeding in full even though she's not in flower yet, I'll supplement with veg nutes when necessary. As you can see the hole I dug now needs to be even deeper 😂 Day 121- dug the hole deeper but can't go much further! Day 122- applied neem oil

@Stinkygorilla, Ok it's clear now that you're having a salts buildup in your soil! You're right, flushing with plain pH'd water will help, be careful not to over-water, and let the soil dry after each waterings. I hope you'll give us some good news very soon 👍
Stinkygorilla
Stinkygorillacommented7y
@Stick, thanks man, I wondered if it was a micronutrient issue. I'm using tap water (pH 7.8) corrected to 6.2, I just watered again with 6.0 pH and run off was at 7, so I think I have a lockout causing the deficiency, which also covers why she is showing very light nitrogen deficiency. I don't have access to boric acid at the moment so might just flush with corrected ph water and then feed next week to see what happens? If I have a salts buildup causing high pH that would prevent access to the boron right? I read that boron availability decreases rapidly over 6.5

I usually use the same volume of water wether feeding with nutrients or giving water only. That should not be an issue. But it is possible your plants don't need/want as much nutrients as you have been feeding. Maybe try feeding at 1/2 - 3/4 the recommended strength. Good luck!👍

It does look like either a nutrient deficiency or a nutrient lockout. I'm going to say it nutrient lockout so a couple of good flushes over a 10 day period then back onto normal feed should help correct the issue and get the lady back on track :) Another nice outdoor update :) Thank you mate I'll drop back in on the next :) All the best Mark..
