Still too tall for the greenhouse, better get my shovel out, it's digging time! Day 115- dug a 2ft hole in the greenhouse and dropped her in container and all. Will no doubt be digging it deeper later but it's a start. Fed nutrients and added some biobloom to ease her in

Grow Questions

In picture 3 above the new growth on the main cola sites is curled up and contorted. pH is a tiny bit high, TDs run off is around the 400-600 mark over the week. Humidity has been intense for weeks in the high 70s to mid 80s, I'm only watering to feed once a week. Help!

Hi there! This looks like a Boron deficiency. This is not a common thing! This may come from : 1) Incorrect pH and/or pH fluctuations. 2) Poor nutrients intakes. Are you watering with reverse osmosis? 3) Too much humidity resulting in a lockout, roots can't absorb Boron anymore. As for a solution to help her recover, you can mix a teaspoon of boric acid in 4 liters of water, and see how it goes. I'll be around, keep us up-to-date, and happy growing!

I water roughly 2.5 litres every 5 days now and when I feed a nutrient solution I use the same volume, is that too much? Is that why I'm constantly seeing lockout deficiencies?

Hi @Stinkygorilla! Seems fine, I usually water with ~20% of the pot/container size. So in your situation, considering you're using 40L containers, I would use 8L. This should flow to the bottom of the pot, and give you a little drain (which can be useful if you want to check ph/ec). However this basic rule does not always apply, sometimes they drink more, sometimes they drink less. Keeping a close eye onto your plant's health will help in finding the perfect amount of water depending on their current stage/health/temp..Hope this helps, keep us up-to-date and happy growing!

@Stinkygorilla, Ok it's clear now that you're having a salts buildup in your soil! You're right, flushing with plain pH'd water will help, be careful not to over-water, and let the soil dry after each waterings. I hope you'll give us some good news very soon 👍

Stinkygorillacommented7 years ago
@Stick, thanks man, I wondered if it was a micronutrient issue. I'm using tap water (pH 7.8) corrected to 6.2, I just watered again with 6.0 pH and run off was at 7, so I think I have a lockout causing the deficiency, which also covers why she is showing very light nitrogen deficiency. I don't have access to boric acid at the moment so might just flush with corrected ph water and then feed next week to see what happens? If I have a salts buildup causing high pH that would prevent access to the boron right? I read that boron availability decreases rapidly over 6.5

@Stinkygorilla,you're welcome ;) I've seen people pull using organics the same or more than people using chemicals, but also, organic means a lot of different things to a lot of different people and they are both right and 'wrong' :)

@bobo420, thanks! Part of me resents my choice to grow organic outdoor as the yields aren't great with our weather, but I enjoy the challenge and seeing how the different genetics play out 😎

@Stinkygorilla, I had to do the same with mine, last summer . But she totally is a strong plant - I had wind topple mine @ 7+' tall (got over 9'), when she feel, she stopped away half of another plant while inviting _zero_ damage, herself. Good luck! Looks great!

@Larimar, it won't be the first time I've had to dig a pit in my greenhouse, just a pain in the ass. Worth it though 😎

@Stinkygorilla,she will grow about 1 more meter what do you do? i had a Tomatotent 2 years ago and the girls were way to big i put the tent onto boxes of wood (wineboxes) so you could see the stems and a part of the plants but they dont get wet... but then a storm came.... well hard descision. the only thing that helps is a roof in 4 meters

Flowering is coming mate. You did the topping just in time 👍 We can not wait to see this strain in full flower. She's a monster already so imagine her in full on bloom mode, this is going to be an amazing flower show 👊 Until the next outdoor update ✌️ All the best Mark..

@DinafemSeeds, I think I'm going to have to dig her into my greenhouse as like you said, no more topping! She's going to be immense 😎

She's getting close to harvest now my friend. You can see she is sucking up the stores nutrients from the big fan/shade leaves and those buds are definitely getting ripe 👊 How are things going since your last update mate? All the best ✌️ Mark..

I usually use the same volume of water wether feeding with nutrients or giving water only. That should not be an issue. But it is possible your plants don't need/want as much nutrients as you have been feeding. Maybe try feeding at 1/2 - 3/4 the recommended strength. Good luck!👍

It does look like either a nutrient deficiency or a nutrient lockout. I'm going to say it nutrient lockout so a couple of good flushes over a 10 day period then back onto normal feed should help correct the issue and get the lady back on track :) Another nice outdoor update :) Thank you mate I'll drop back in on the next :) All the best Mark..
