AlpineGoat Hello everyone and welcome back :) This will be the last diary I open this year, the last one that will kick off a new year with better prospects, leaving behind all the misadventures we've had during this last rough period.. To start, I'll lay my cards on the table: I speak Italian! Since I'm tired of writing everything in English - making mistakes sometimes - I've decided to write everything using my mother tongue. I'm proud of it, why hide it? ;D That said, let's move on to today's selection. Since I'm a patient suffering from epilepsy, I need something that keeps me calm and relaxed. Something that helps me fight the side effects of the medication, like insomnia or daytime anxiety. That's why I went hunting for some new strains, outside of the common ones, that would better meet my needs. Finally, I found it! Three strains really suited for my needs :D The DC#1 from Doctor's Choice is a balanced strain for daytime use, helping with socializing and fighting anxiety and stress! The Black Berry OG CBD from Emerald Triangle Seeds is just what I need to help calm my nerves, an indica with a cbd:thc ratio of 3:1 :D The Banana Sherbet from South Seeds, a really strong new strain, indica, that knocks you out, perfect for collapsing in the evening after a long day ;) These seeds were gifted to me by fantastic breeders who unfortunately don't get all the attention they deserve.. take a look at their seedbanks, you'll find gems perfectly compatible with your needs! - Now enough chit-chat, it's time to talk about technical stuff. Germination! As per tradition, I usually leave my seeds soaking in water for 24 hours. After that, I keep them in a damp, closed tissue until they show a good root - usually 24-36 hours. Then I transplant them into their first container - a 0.8L - where they will develop a nice root system before being transplanted into their final container! Finally, over the weekend I managed to transplant them. I used a bit of root complex to stimulate the roots in the jiffy ;)

AlpineGoat 26.12.20 So far, so good for the first week, everything has germinated as planned. DC#1 had a little issue, nothing serious, it wasn't damaged, it's doing well now. The Blue Berry OG CBD is growing like a dream. The same goes for the Banana Sherbet, really healthy seeds, excellent. Now I'm waiting to see the first roots before transplanting... I plan to water with root stimulator in a day or two... 28.12.20 Oh no! I transplanted them, two seem to appreciate it, while the CBD has gone! It's all dry, poor thing, I don't think it made it.....amen 🙏

AlpineGoat Sorry for missing last week's update, but I was busy building my veg box... currently in progress... but I'm almost done 💪 I just need to get the mylar! Other than that, my little plants are doing great! I absolutely need to move the plants into the veg box as soon as possible to make room for the DC#1; I want to transplant it to gain a few liters before it goes into flowering. Right now, in an 80x80 box, I have...17 plants... help me out. The Critical 707 is finally stabilized! Now it's growing like a charm :) The banana sherbet also absolutely needs to be transplanted! The roots aren't visible yet, but I'm sure they'll pop out from down there soon 😈

AlpineGoat The girls are doing great! I finally managed to separate them into the appropriate boxes: the banana sherbet and her sister critical 707 are in the veg box, while the DC#1 has started to flower, so she stays in the bigger box (officially turned into the flowering box). Even though they are all a bit out of sync (don’t look at the weeks, go back through the diary, you’ll see that I originally started with other strains), they are all progressing together happily :) The banana sherbet is very short and the internodes are really short. I wanted to take some cuttings to give to friends, but considering that I have other seeds, I might think about transplanting her into a 5L pot and keeping her in veg until it’s full, then using a 20L pot for flowering - it’s true, that’s a lot of transplants, but the veg box is small, I can’t afford to put a 20L pot in there. The critical 707 has grown well and is adapting perfectly to the climate of her new little home. I plan to top her and make a couple of clones to have some fun! The DC#1, unlike the other two, is automatic, and also pretty badass. In fact, her dad, the Lowryder from dear DOC, makes the growth speed of this plant impressive! Here too, I’m doing a test run, since the doctor prescribed me a bunch of seeds to test my gardening skills, I thought I’d do a first indoor trial before replicating it outdoors, as soon as the weather is more favorable.. So far, so good, let’s see what the future holds for me.. for now, it looks promising!

AlpineGoat I'm feeling stuck at the moment.. The DC#1 is growing, yes, but slowly.. It's entered the flowering stage but shows some deficiencies (calcium? that's what it seems). I just bought some calmag from Biobizz hoping to fix it, I'll give it to her tomorrow, yesterday I already gave her water with enhancer and I don't want to drown her! The Critical707 seems dormant to me. Maybe it's due to the lighting issues I've had this week (my Chinese light went out and I had to buy another one but it seems bluish) or maybe the poor quality of the light itself, but this plant is really growing slowly. On the other hand, I like the Banana Sherbet! It has lost some color, it's become pale, probably due to the stress of being moved to a new grow box and the cold of the early periods. In fact, while setting up the fan, I discovered that the veg box was hitting 18-15°C at night and that's NOT GOOD! Now I've added a small heater in the veg box so that there's a higher temperature. Anyway, I think I need to stop doing mixed diaries, with autos and feminized. It's really hard to manage the data on GrowDiaries when you're working on two grow boxes with completely different environments..

AlpineGoat I fucked up. I forgot it was automatic and feeded her one or two time with full dose Hesi.. this stuff is too strong for her and when I tried to adjust mag deficit I fucked all up. Now I’m planning to put another Doctor’s Choice in the box, maybe a Niagara or a Machine Box. The next run will be more lucky!

AlpineGoat I topped her and she didn’t liked it at all. Then when I was arranging the box my humidificator felt on the pot, destroing the plant with no way to recover. I didn’t took a picture because it kills me to see in that way :( Sorry south seeds team, I’m going to pop another one for sure since I wanna do a mom for clones!

AlpineGoat This year didn't start off very well. I was too caught up with the flowering of the two autoflowering plants and got lost fixing the veg box instead of taking care of my girls.. Now I only have her left, critical 707 (NOT CBD as GD says!) which I managed to fix up a bit with a new light.. I won't continue this diary, I have other projects in mind. Soon I'll be getting several seeds including some Oni Seeds and some Russian landraces.. we'll see if I end up with the hybrid 😈

@Doctors_Choice, i worked with some plant that got 55-60 days of flowers but never stretched as she does!!!

@AlpineGoat, that the same story with other stains in new-school genetics. I mean devotchka, Rock machine and Niagara. Someone used to push her with lights as much as possible during ver stage cause she didn't stop growing even during flowering.

@AlpineGoat, Mother of roasted chestnuts (I mean) 😁🌰 Thanks for the offer anyway 😉 I still don't appreciate autoflowering strains much, in fact I have quite a few from FastBuds that I don't know if/what I'll do with them.. I'll just send them to you first ;)

AlpineGoat commented6y ago
@Belverde, this year I have a private forest available, send them over and I'll throw them around 😂

Belverde commented6y ago
@AlpineGoat, The woods are always awesome 💯💯 It's funny that I have quite a few private spots, but too many pathways nearby... In other places, there would be infinity, but unfortunately too many hunters set up cameras, and between that and various vacations, I ended up stopping... When it becomes legal, it will be a blast 🌳🌳🌳;) Anyway, if you want them, I can really send them to you or we can meet up.

@PurpleWorship, i really need it, the cbd one died during the transplantation, i’m replacing it with a critical 707!
PurpleWorship
PurpleWorship commented6y ago
@AlpineGoat, Oof... That's why I hate germination kit like that. A some weeks old plant will easily survive any mistreatment during a transplant, but at this stage.... It's a no for me. I'm still a beginner I believe, but I really don't see the benefical of it, compared to the risk it involve. Up to today, I'm having a 100% germination success, and no failed growth with seed direct to the pot method. And with the right watering condition, it never took more than 3 days to get first leaves out... I tried germination in wet papper, then transplant in a cup, then in a pot. This came with lot of different issues. Probably because of mistake i made... But that's the point: It's more manipulation, so more mistakes possibles. RIP CBD (good thing 😝 ) and welcome Critical 707!
