Well, this has been a weird one! It was slow to germinate using the glass of water method (about a week), but then it went to sleep for a while once I potted it. Maybe I buried it too deep but it took from Dec 25 until Jan 7 to surface. Used 10g of Dynomyco and BioBizz All-mix as a medium. Hope I can coax it to be a bit happier. This is my second attempt at growing this strain; I'm a huge fan of it and happily use it as one of my everyday smokes.
Another slow week—maybe I shouldn’t be surprised! It’s sticking really close to the soil surface as well, so I’ve moved the 25w LEDs away in the hopes it’ll stretch to the main lights.
Finally! Big growth this week. The plant is still low to the ground, but it's started really perking up. I trimmed a few of the top fan leaves to let the lower sites grow a bit. Interested to see how it goes after the slow start.
Flowering! I would definitely have rather kept this in veg for longer, but oh well. Not expecting a huge harvest or anything, but I’m such a fan of this strain anyway.
I love seeing that purple color! As always, super strong sticky sweet grape smell--it's really popped this week. Starting to see a few rust spots on fan leaves, but since I've struggled with lockouts before I'm going to take it slowly. Really pleased to see the slow veg growth hasn't so far had a huge impact on flowering, though still pretty sure I won't get a huge harvest from this one.
Starting to get some more rust spots, very frustrating. Trying to be more careful with nutes, but it’s frustrating for sure. Humidity is also very low, since it’s been weirdly hot and dry here. Any advice welcome!
Sorry for missing a week, it was a bit of a rough one. Anyway! So, I'm more and more sure that I was overloading on nutes. I'm feeding at most every other day, but clearly still struggling a bit. Spending this week trying to flush a bit and seeing how it helps.
Look how fat these little guys are getting! I flushed a lot and slowly reintroduced calmag to start and I think that’s helped fix the lockout and cal/mag deficiencies. They seem to be happier growing anyway!
Looks happier with the lighter nutrient load. Definitely glad I asked you all for advice. Anyway, these are the fattest buds I’ve seen—not super long, but practically round. At least another week or two to go!
Forgot to upload last Friday...! Anyway. Slow but steady. Starting to see fewer white pistils, but still some clear trichromes. Foxtails too, but I think this is expected for purple strains right? Am thinking I’ll harvest over the weekend. Will update with this week’s progress tomorrow. Happy growing all!
I'm going to harvest in the next few days: there's still some bud growth but I don't want this one to drag on much longer. The buds are short but fat with some foxtailing, so will see how that affects the quality as compared to my last run with this strain. But so far this is my third plant with this strain and it's been great: resilient to my mistakes, doesn't get huge and out of control, and tastes amazing! Highly recommend it.
Dropped nutes this week and will harvest over the next two days. Growth has stalled and some of the color is washing out, so I may have left it too long. We’ll see!
I love this stuff. It’s tasty, smooth, and SUPER sticky: you'll want to really give it time to dry and cure or it'll gum up your grinder something fierce. I smoke it by itself, mixed with THC strains, or with kief. Even by itself it gives such a feeling of mellow wellbeing. I really recommend everyone try it.
Growing-wise, it's super easy: no drama, even for new growers (or lazy ones who don't want to mess around too much). It's been really forgiving for me, so it's been great to learn with. I've been really working on nute balancing so this grow wasn't perfect, but I wouldn't blame the genetics. Whack it in a pot, trim a few times, and you'll have some beautiful bud. You can do whatever training you want and it'll be happy, but it won't mind just a bit of light defoliation too. I've generally been sticking these off to the side of the tent and prioritizing THC plants, but honestly these ones produce really well. I've gotten a tiny bit of pink/red, but normally they're a lovely rich purple. Everyone I show them to is really interested.
The only reason I haven't given a 10/10 is just because these aren't BEHEMOTH producers or anything like that, and my aforementioned nute struggles. But realistically--these are good. You should grow them.
I didn’t mess with this one—a little defoliation but that was it. It struggled at first and was runty, but even though it never got big it put out fat buds. The buds kept growing and putting out foxtails even once the tops of the buds were drying out, so I probably should have harvested earlier. In any case, am happy with the outcome.
Thank you very much for trusting our strains, and sharing your experience.
And thank you very much again for the score of 9 out of 10!! 👏😍❤️
We hope you enjoy the harvest 👌
Sweet smokes!
