**Week of 3/24/2021 - 3/30/2021**
I am changing things up slightly. I've been doing time entries on Wednesdays after my water changes. This would technically be the 1st day of the following week, so instead I'll be making my weekly entries on Tuesday nights to wrap up the week.
Going into my first week of flowering I was feeling more confident, but then I really started to notice the tips of my new growth looking light yellow, almost white. Additionally, I was getting small rust spots on fan leaves here and there. I dug through about three different plant sick guides and came to the conclusion that it was most likely due to me not using CalMag.
Very early in this grow I was getting some leaf damage and twisting, and at the time concluded it was mostly due to the CalMag as my overall ppms were very high for being so early in the grow. I was using full strength recommendations from House & Garden as well. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I am using R/O water. When I was getting this leaf damage early on I did some digging around online and came across a post with a guy having similar issues and someone attributed it to using a CalMag supplement along with the full line of H&G nuts. This dude said he'd been growing with ONLY H&G nutes for years without using a CalMag supplement. I honestly can't remember if this guy said he was using R/O water or not. The fact I can't remember means he probably did not mention this.
Well, I probably should have done some more research instead of stopping there because not much later I found that ph was probably my #1 culprit and something was getting locked out. At the time I thought it looked like phosphorus damage, but my ph pen was reading much higher than the actual ph (0.5 off). I was sitting at about 5.3ph thinking it was 5.8ph. However, phosphorus wouldn't be locked out in low ph like that I believe. PH issues would also jive with the leaf twisting. I recalibrated my pen (and do it every week now), and got the ph issues fixed.
So long story longer, I am assuming that the whitness and light colors I'm seeing on the new growth might be a possible iron deficency. The rust spots on fan leaves are most likely a Calcium deficiency. I'm not sure if I'm really seeing a Magnesium problem.
I added a new 16" fan this week. I'm getting alot of moisture between touching leaves, and this is my solution. Also, I have a dehumidifier on the way along with a controller for it. My humidity has easily been sitting above 50% this whole week, and I need to get that under control before this lady starts fruiting.
Last thing here....Last couple days I'm really getting busy with training the plant under my ScrOG. I looked back through all my previous grows and it just so happens every one of them were very Sativa pheno's....very stretchy. I was also using lights with less lumens than what I'm rocking now. This plant it's just growing totally different than anything I'm used to. It's such a shrubbery. I'm wondering how it's going to fill my screen out.
Is this root rot? I have fixed my temps in the last 4 days. I am already using H&G Roots Excelurator. Is Hydroguard better or should I use both? I also tried fixing light leaks. Any other suggestions?
You should be using both. As the last person said root accelerate nutrient helping grow roots faster, while hydrogaurd is a beneficial bacteria that will keep your roots healthy during harsher environment. Things like slightly higher res temps.
@PigBearMan, I'm sorry to hear that man. Most of my family is from the southern states so I understand exactly what your saying. Luckily I'm in a fairly temperate area, although the winters can be harsh. However, I'm growing indoors so it's much easier to deal with than high humidity and temps.
@Bertoxxulous, where i live the temperatures and the RH are pretty shitty. Summer, 28°C and 65% RH. Good for veg but not for flowering and smoking. It's like a fucking sponge. Like wet camp fire. I putting my 7 weeks old weed still in the microwave for 15 sec. Ridicolous. Will not grow next summer for sure.
@Bertoxxulous, yeah I am the same I couldn’t take to vaping and I bought the mighty vaporiser (just not the same) so I smoke blunts much nicer! Well the terpene most at this stage I thought limonene and that’s where the real lime/citrus taste. But also a spicy background which could be the caryophyllene. I am curing for a few weeks and I just know this will get better!
@TheGreenQueen420, Thank you so much! I cannot freaking wait! I saw your harvest pics, and you did an excellent job!!! All I have right now is shitty vape pen cartridges and I'm almost out of those too. I will never buy a vape pen cartridge ever again after this. I thought it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but boy was I wrong. Maybe others feel differently, but I do not like them. Are there any distinct terpene you are picking up?
