**Wednesday 3/17/2021 - Tuesday 3/23/2021**
Despite my efforts the plant still seems mostly healthy. It is pounding nuts so hard and I am starving the plant. Near the end of the week I started upping the nuts.
[Update - 3/19/2021] - So far I've been doing my weekly water changes on Wednesday morning. Wednesday evening I made the decision to FIM (photo included). After FIM'ing I felt like my SCROG was set too high off the plant. I used to have a much larger grow space in the past, and would veg for longer than most people to get higher yields. I came to the realization that with my limited space I needed to rethink that strategy. Also, after adding that toat to cool the bucket off I was having an exceptionally hard time with water changes. Water changes will only get more difficult as the plant gets larger. I went to the hardware store and bought some more stuff. I lowered the trellis exactly 5". I think (and hope) this will work in my favor. I also had the idea that a lower trellis would work with Auto's, which I'd like to grow in the future. To fix my water change issue I used some garage storage racking and three peices of wood fastened together (picture above). It's not a perfect solution, but it's certainly better than what I was dealing with.
[Update - 3/22/2021] - So somehow, fuck I really missed. The FIM did not go as expected and the plant kept growing up. I topped it this morning. The pictures I uploaded are from late this evening. Really didn't work out in my favor. This means I'll have to LST the main cola's from the top. I don't think I'm going to have as even of a canopy as I could have otherwise. I also have small brown spots here and there on some of my leaves right now. Will need to research and keep an eye on that.
[Update - 3/23/2021] - This morning I am digging around and lo-and-behold I find my FIM. It shot off to the side like a side branch. So one of the side branches became the "main" branch I had mistaken for the FIM continuing to grow up. I ended up topping what would have been a probable monster cola if things all work out. Hopefully I didn't nuke it to much. Really feeling like a putz right about now. The plant is pounding down nuts so hard and I'm not used to that. I think what I'm seeing is a phosphorus deficiency. I let my nuts drop below 680 (low 600's, even high 500's at one point). From my prior experience I've never needed to add nuts back between weekly water changes (or maybe that is just what I thought at the time). This plant is drinking so much I think that is what is different. I made sure I was sitting at 680 this morning. I'm convinced it is not PH at this point as I just re-calibrated my pen yesterday and it was only 0.1 off. I've been keeping my PH consistently in the 5.7-5.8 range.
Is this root rot? I have fixed my temps in the last 4 days. I am already using H&G Roots Excelurator. Is Hydroguard better or should I use both? I also tried fixing light leaks. Any other suggestions?
You should be using both. As the last person said root accelerate nutrient helping grow roots faster, while hydrogaurd is a beneficial bacteria that will keep your roots healthy during harsher environment. Things like slightly higher res temps.
@PigBearMan, I'm sorry to hear that man. Most of my family is from the southern states so I understand exactly what your saying. Luckily I'm in a fairly temperate area, although the winters can be harsh. However, I'm growing indoors so it's much easier to deal with than high humidity and temps.
@Bertoxxulous, where i live the temperatures and the RH are pretty shitty. Summer, 28°C and 65% RH. Good for veg but not for flowering and smoking. It's like a fucking sponge. Like wet camp fire. I putting my 7 weeks old weed still in the microwave for 15 sec. Ridicolous. Will not grow next summer for sure.
@Bertoxxulous, yeah I am the same I couldn’t take to vaping and I bought the mighty vaporiser (just not the same) so I smoke blunts much nicer! Well the terpene most at this stage I thought limonene and that’s where the real lime/citrus taste. But also a spicy background which could be the caryophyllene. I am curing for a few weeks and I just know this will get better!
@TheGreenQueen420, Thank you so much! I cannot freaking wait! I saw your harvest pics, and you did an excellent job!!! All I have right now is shitty vape pen cartridges and I'm almost out of those too. I will never buy a vape pen cartridge ever again after this. I thought it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but boy was I wrong. Maybe others feel differently, but I do not like them. Are there any distinct terpene you are picking up?
