4 plants from my last crop were Herms.. seems like the perfect time to plant some of the freebie autos from Grizzly seedbank! Less than 48 hrs and we have baby critical cheese, Skunk#1, Sour orange and OG Kush autos showing shoots under the improvised humidity domes (takeaway containers) 🍜

D14 Off to a slow start but we now have some proper leaves. The skunk #1 is mutated, it has whorled phylotaxy (3 leaves instead of 2 at each node) and I think it might die. It's struggling. The sour orange and OG Kush look good, nothing to report really. The critical cheese seems like it could be flowering already. Strange growth at the apex. I hope it doesn't dwarf. They are on 12/12 from seed due to replacing some photos in my tent that Hermed. They are alongside some photo period Banana Glue.

D16 Critical cheese was a male. I threw it away. The skunk #1 with whorled phylotaxy isn't looking too healthy - it's growing slowly and a bit of a strange colour. Og kush and Sour orange both look good. I do not mind some failures since the seeds were free, and it's just some spare space alongside my photoperiods.

Sory guys, I got distracted with my photoperiods and skipped a week on the auto diary 😅 There is nothing much to report, they're vegging still and I'm only feeding water with Biosys. OG Kush threw out one node with whorled phylotaxy but corrected itself. It has also pre-flowered. It's a girl! Skunk #1 is has more significant whorled phylotaxy (3 leaves per node instead of 2) all the way up so far. It may or may not grow out of it and I need to keep an eye on it for hermy tendencies. It has quite dark leaves and is a little floppy. Something seems off. Sour orange auto is the pick of the bunch so far - it has grown completely normally with no mutations. She is also pushing pistils so definitely a girl. I'm going to increase the hours of daylight once I've got my photoperiods harvested - either this week or next. 1/04 I added worm castings mixed with a dose of AUTO bloom by living soils to the top of the medium. We'll see how these go, hopefully better than biobizz. 2/04 Skunk #1 is a Herm. I think there's something wrong with it, either genetic or possibly a viroid - drop a comment if you know what it is! I'm not going to kill it, I'm going to put it outdoors in a hidden place and see what it does.. 👨‍🔬🏻

I think we're in the stretch phase now. Ideally I would have had the lighting longer than 12hrs by this point, but the last photoperiod is taking forever to finish. Hopefully just a few more days! I am enjoying how easy the dry amendments are to use. I just have to add water when dry. This is a lot easier than using biobizz liquid nutes as the plant just takes what it needs instead of trying to force it. I am almost sure that regular liquid feeding causes nutrient imbalances and problems with the substrate. Skunk #1 mutant is still alive last I checked, somehow it's surviving the frost and snow we've had here recently. Even though it's a Herm, I kinda want to get seeds from it - might be good for an outdoor breeding project. As of 08/4 the lighting is 16hrs on and 8hrs off. Hopefully I caught them early to mid stretch so they still get quite big.

Sorry for delayed update again, my health is not good at the moment and I'm struggling to keep up. Had some deficiencies this week. Was definitely a magnesium problem and cal-mag has got them back on track however I think they may now be stuck at this size. The stretch was a bad time for this to happen. Possible causes for MG deficiency: •Top dressing causing PH swings and temporary lockout •increasing the day length from 12 to 16 hours would have caused increased photosynthesis and they may have just used up all the magnesium •its possible I overwatered them causing PH swing It seems they need cal-mag every feeding under HPS which they did not need when I was using CFL. Noted for future reference!

18/4/21 D49 OG Kush looks good now, it might be short but hopefully will have some nice buds at least. Sour orange still struggling but seems to be slowly getting better. Hopefully she will also produce a quality end product even if quantity is lacking. When I get a chance I will go and check how the skunk #1 is getting on outdoors. There's been a lot of frost here lately so honestly it will be a miracle if she is alive. 19/4/21 The skunk #1 is still alive! She's taken some frost damage but the new growth looks okay. I'm very impressed tbh, I would have expected 10 or so nights of frost to have killed her. I'm hoping she will self seed and give me another generation of hardy skunk autos to have a go at guerilla growing.

OG Kush still looking good, she's pint sized but the buds are getting some good girth to them 👍🏼 Sour orange is still stressed out and I'm not really sure why. All I'm giving are top amendments of living soils auto bloom according to schedule, and cal-mag with every watering. The OG Kush has had the exact same treatment and loves it, however it's clear that both plants are burning through magnesium at a ridiculous rate. I think some of the lowers on the Sour Orange are forming pollen sacks but that's fine, I'm going to collect the pollen and cross it to some other autos and see what happens. Tangie cookies auto anyone? 👨‍🌾

OG is still going strong, I predict a couple more weeks. Nice fat flowers on her 🌼 Sour orange continued to throw pollen sacs on her lower branches so I moved her outside. I feel it's not worth risking getting seeds in my OG. Hopefully she will self seed and I'll get to hunt through her babies. I don't think the flower will be much good being outside at this time of year, but we shall see 🤷‍♂️🏻 The sour orange has replaced the skunk in my secret outdoor spot. The skunk has wilted and caught frost damage but is somehow still alive. It looks so little like a cannabis plant now, I've hidden it in plain sight at the bottom of my garden. It will probably die without producing anything 💀 D58 New light arrived today - viparspectra P2000 LED. Already my temps are down and my humidity is up. The OG Kush seems to be loving it ☀️ D60 She's starting to fade out a beautiful red / purple colour 😍 it's only slight so far but I think she has a week or two left..

Beautiful fade on the OG Kush auto💜 I've never seen a plant do this before in one of my grows - I'm assuming it was facilitated by the switch to LED and thus lower temperatures. Possibly the change in light spectrum also. Whatever the cause, it looks amazing 🌈 I'll keep adding photos throughout the week as it progresses 📸 Quick update on the plants I moved outside: Skunk #1 auto - still alive but not looking good. It's definitely been inspected by a fox as evidenced by fur stuck to the sticky trap, a bite mark out of the fabric pot and I think he marked his territory too. I guess foxes and skunks don't get on 🦊 I think this plant will wilt and die. Sour orange auto: Seems to still be in stasis. It looks exactly how it did when I put it outside a week ago. I think the cold night time temps are probably taking a toll. It still has viable flowers though and the pollen sacs are still there. It has potential for an S1 seed crop still. As long as the fox doesn't find it 🤣

I know right, I expected it to be dead too! ☠️ This plant survived the worst April on record, outdoors in the UK 🇬🇧 I put her outside because she was throwing pollen sacs but on initial inspection there's no seeds... Just letting her dry out a bit before I chop and inspect her - she's completely water logged right now 🌊

That sour orange is fun to grow, grew it once and she was damn tall lol

@Chilipadi, if the autoflower trait is properly selected for and stabilised, then the length of the day should make no difference. I think there are some "semi autos" available but I don't really know the details of those. They usually tend to be genetically closer to wild type or landrace strains.

@GhettoSetUp, ahh ok. Ive read that 12/12 helps even autos to trigger flower early. Dont knw how true just curious

@Chilipadi, I am mate yeah as they are starting in the shade of some photoperiod Banana Glues. I'll be increasing the daylight hours once it's just autos in the tent.

@Chilipadi, they all popped in about 48hrs if I remember correctly. I wouldn't worry though, I've had seeds take 5+ days to pop before! Good luck!

Nice purple fade. Expect another 5 weeks on sour orange she takes long to mature.

@GhettoSetUp, yea its a long flowering auto plus its a sativa. Check out my sour orange wasnt a great grow was one of my first too.

@Chilipadi, thanks for the heads up man. To be honest that's perfect as I'm hoping she will self seed and it gives some time for the seeds to mature 👌🏼

Wow! I have never seen a male start producing flowers so early on in veg, did you do something with light? Lucky he did not grow into a big plant!
Eauderay
Eauderaycommented4 years ago
@GhettoSetUp, thanks lol next time I will check better the seed descriptions section, what a litlle male!!!
GhettoSetUp
GhettoSetUpcommented4 years ago
@Eauderay, It was an autoflower, so I think normal to show sex in the third or fourth week. Also, it was not a hermaphrodite but a normal male so nothing to do with the lights or any other environmental factor.
