Feeding and EC

Chronigmatic

Hey guys just wanted to clarify some things. Im using feeding powder schedule as a base to follow EC. But what happens when you add boosters to the mix should i go for the EC that the chart says with the whole mix or just feeding powder to that EC and add boosters over it?

Hi there.. that depends on your environment and how your plant can handle it.. if you slightly under-feed with your regular nutrients, then you can try adding the booster and raise the total EC a little. If your plant is already being fed perfectly, or on the higher side, the extra EC might be too much for her to handle. My white haze grow has very very lightly burnt tips, because of exactly that.. she's fine with 1.1 to 1.2 mS at this point (i grow her in a hydro-DWC setup and measure EC of the nutrient solution daily), but when i change the reservoir once a week, and add the boosters, she gets around 1.4 mS, which is too much.. that's just in for a day, as following that, i top up without the booster and over the course of a few days she drifts down again. If i followed the instructions on the back of all my nutrients blindly, she'd get an EC of 2.9, which she could never handle in this environment (under a single 50-walldrawn-watt COB), and i prefer my plants rather to be healthy than overfed. happy growing!

This is a huge problem for new growers. All these additive for your nutes makes people think they need them. Then they follow the makers advice that is for professional growers and even very high doses for them. A good one part veg nutrient, a good one part bloom nutrient and I myself use massive bud formulation to spike up them bloom nutes a little. Always water feed water feed. That's important to keep your salts down. Newbies would be successful growers with just these 3 products and all the confusion gone. Luck on your grow my friend

Huh without know what your schedule is saying Ive no idea EC is always the last thing I do before feeding any recipe I dont know hands down. The EC for canna really has little to do with what salts are causing it as its a function of electrical/chemical bonds at the roots. So kind of a confusing question, what resource are you growing by? Can recommend one if you like. good luck
