When is a good indication of when to start watering pots until runoff? Plants are small in 3 gallon fabric pots (3:1 coco to perlite) right now and topsoil dries out within 24 hours feeding 500ml of water a day. Had issues overwatering in small plastic pots earlier on in seedling

You can try to water a little more, a little deeper, from day to day. This way you keep the root zone clean from salt build ups. Usually roots are about the size of the plant. Eventually you will see run off. I think your coco looks a little dry to me.

I always water the entire pot and let dry, if it ain't totally dry in a week they get another watering, plenty of time for the medium to re-oxygenate in that time. I have never had a problem doing it this way. Just need to rough up the top to keep algae from growing a day or 2 after watering. Cheers friend
