When to water?

You water when your soil looks dry the first inch or two. If your plant start to wilt and you lift your pot and feels super light, you need to water ASAP. Cannabis hate dry pot. Especially hydroponics or during flowering stage. It can shock the plant and kill it. Many of us use the “lift the pot to feel the weight”

I did that every night. and then with a mister i just slightly moistened the top of my medium to help keep it all from drying out.

Never soak, just add a little water each day. Use a turkey baster or shot glass. Most ppl kill their girl by using tap water! It should be distill, clean with no chlorine ( shocks the crap out of them), make sure to pH water around 6.0 to 6.5. it will be fine and as it gets bigger it can handle more water with nutrient. After a few times, you will see the leaves tell you what it wants. Remember less is more with cannabis....or everyone could grow it easily!

How often should I do that? Just when it's dry on the surface?
