Pruning in Flower

marihoochistarted grow question 4 years ago
Today June 6th makes for 23 days in flower; Don't think I've done enough pruning to branches and leaves. Is it too late in flower to lollipop the lower 1/3 of plant? In order to get larger colas and few popcorn buds?

You can Prune and Lollipop up until the end of the third week of flower.. I wouldn't do any after this point.. Hope this helps! Happy growing!

here's what i am doing now as far as toe stepping. early, it doesn't show the other answers.. i consider this fair game. out of our control, objective. after that, if i see it thoroughly covered, just toss some likes out regardless of my opinion, if 2 were shared. Working on that second part.. I forget for some reason... smoke break! if i ever think i can add something useful i will, and if it is somewhat derivative of someone else before me, i'd expect the original post on that line of thought to get the answer from any reasonable person :)

When i have a portion of canopy that's overpopulated, i bend the weakest shoot down and under others... could tie it too, but with a lollipop undercarriage, usually save to prop it under something. good hash/cooking bits later. lots of triches relative to volume and mass. it's not too late, but a bit borderline. Figure where you see the best buds, give a little room for error, and clear beneath that invisible line. maybe some small shoots that won't produce anything above that line? just depends. be more conservative removing leaves from canopy, since it's not likely growing back whatsoever -- whatever you take off.

Never toe stepping friend! As I'm Still learning as I go as well. this was just information given to me by multiple people and from research I've done in my short time growing! Every plant is different and will react differently depending on your area and growing conditions I believe so yeah every drop of knowledge is always helpful in my opinion!

Sorry NCK not meaning to step on toes, but I'm a huge believer by experience in a no stress in the first 3 weeks of actual flower, 3 weeks starting from the time the buds start. I would have everything your going to do to your plant done before the end of the stretch, then dont touch anything until the last 3 weeks of flower which you can then remove your big leaves. The plant in the first 3 weeks of flower is putting all its energy into creating flowers and every little shock slows it some. Just my opinion but I have been doing this a very long time and have done many side by side test in the past and the plant I leave alone is always better.
