De chlorinate the water let it sit and the bubbles forming is the chlorine,I have been told and I use distilled vinegar from the corner shop for a ph down as my tap water is 7.8 not the best but only adds i find around 2 ml in a litre will drop it to about where i want ideally want to vary it from say 5.8 to 6.5 if using soil i hear its lower for hydro around 5.5 to 6.5 is the range I think,I'm no expert but everything I read says the same where that's concerned.good luck

If your doing organic type grow I think ph is less of an issue but 7.8 is too high for anything else

I am new to cannabis growing, but a seasoned garden grower. So I’ve used this method for years. You need to buy a bottle of acid. Typically called “pH down”. A quart is about $10 in the US What I do with my city water is fill up a 5 gallon bucket and let it sit for 24-48hrs to evaporate any of the chemicals. (No need if we’ll water) then I add 2ml, stir and check the pH, repeat as necessary until I get to 6.5. With the acid, start with small amounts. A tiny bit goes a long way.
