This is how I dry and everyone loves my weed. Wet trim or hang to dry, I wet trim, then put into a weed hanger. Usually takes 3 to 4 days until the weed becomes dry and feels like it will smoke. I then put all the weed together into a cooler and close the lid until the buds rehydrate, usually 30 to 40 minutes, this is called sweating. I then open or remove the lid and let the top start to dry. When top feels like its dry then move the bottom to the top and let dry. Repeat this process until all the bud is equally dry. Put into your jars. They will still start rehydrating a little, so after 3 or 4 hours, open the jars and let dry again to your likeness.. after this you should be able to keep the jar closed for 24 hours. After 24 hours open the jars again and let dry to your likeness. Now your good to smoke and or store that for final curing. This is the best way I have found over my 45 yrs of growing and drying for the best taste and at no point do you get any hay or grass smell. Just full flavour and aroma. But you need to just let it rehydrate in the cooler not sit in there with the lid on for hours. Remove that lid as soon as all has rehydrated. Cheers

yeah, when it dries you will smell hay/grass smell, but then as you cure it the smell will return after the chlorophyll breaks down in the plant. It takes me about a week to get rid of the hay smell and the buds to form up and smell to return. So either your drying too fast or you need to cure it.
