Seedling struggled to shake off her seed casing. One of the cotyledons has died and fell off. Will this have any affect on the plant in the future?

Your all good, seedling is still up rite and you have new leaves sprouting after them. Those cotyledons are really just to get the seed out and the first leaves going. That has been accomplished. They fall off sooner or later anyway. You might see a slower growth for a bit but I suspect by the look of it, shes not gonna skip much of a beat if any. Cheer💨

Thanks all! I appreciate the info. I have seen slower growth than the zkittles that germinated same day. She seems to have shaken the shock and back to growing as normal.

As long as the other is intact and the seedling hasn't died or wilted yet it will be fine. Growth might slow for a day or 2. On the plus side your seedling may see the damage as fimming and develop a much stronger main stem and growth.
