When I start LST how long should I keep the plant tied down vs. lettin her get some stretch in?

When I tie down, It usually stays until the last week before harvest... they will still stretch...

Should I be starting LST. Been bending to get it used to it but not tied yetI feel like the topic is very controversial about when to start LST. Some say 3 nodes some say 6.
