Just remember, maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth potential'
As you can tell, I am against defoliation, only ever removing yellow leaves would be my suggestion.
Besides, your plant will use the "stored" vital growth elements, such as, amino acids, sugars, carbs etc, that are in the older leaves for growth during flowering and to remove the healthy leaves would be to rob her of this resource. It is far more efficient for your plant to re-use the elements from within the older leaves, than it is to grow flowers AND make these vital growth elements from new during flowering, as to do so would require energy to be used, energy that can no longer be utilised for flower growth. So, not only does defoliation reduce your plants capacity to produce energy, it also robs her of a source of readily available vital growth elements that she has so cleverly "stored" in her older leaves for use during flowering. Two facts that the advocates of defoliation fail to fully understand.
Light we humans can not see, will actually penetrates the upper leaves to strike the lower leaves and stimulate photosynthesis and create energy. The shaded "potential bud sites" are actually relying on those big fan leaves to produce the energy they need to grow. There is no way the small leaves associated with the flowers can produce the same amount of energy as just one fan leaf. Cannabis has evolved to grow her biggest and best flowers. To do so does not involve getting rid of perfectly healthy, green, and energy producing leaves.
Get rid of yellow leaves, but not healthy green leaves, would be my advice.
Hope this helps,........ Organoman.
