When do you usually know when to start flushing? My Afghani girls seem to gone from 0% brown hairs (21 Feb) to 20% (24 Feb) to 50% (1 Mar) – se pics. I was thinking of starting the flush at the end of this week – but now wondering if it's too late? And tips for a newbie?

Hey mate ! It’s better to buy a microscope at least 30x to see the tricomes! Normally I aim to harvest when the tricomes are 90% cloudy and 10% amber, because the cannabinois are in is peak! You shouldn’t harvest your plant in base of the pistols colour, but in the tricomes colour yes ! The tricomes have three stages of maturation ! First on transparent colour, cloudy/milky and amber. Keep in mind that more amber colour the tricomes be more sedative type of high will be! So if I aim 90/10 milky amber, I start flushing when the tricomes are like 50-60% cloudy.

Hi growmie 🙋‍♀️💚 OK so how far into flower are you? that will help determine when the flush is due . I usually flush with tap water 7 to 10days before she's due for harvest. I'd say your about 4 weeks away until that time. give it 2 weeks then start giving her plain water. if you can get a Marco camera or kittle microscope to check the trichomes if they are cloudy but some are amber then she is ready x

Giving just plain water for the last 7-10 days before harvest is ample time for "flushing". Flushing too early can result in prematurely stripping the substrate of the nutrients that your plant will need to mature her flowers and grow them to their largest size. I would suggest waiting until about 90% of the pistils are brown before starting a flush, as I personally prefer to harvest my flowers while at the peak of THC content, which is when there are about 95% of brown pistils. Waiting until all the pistils are brown means the plant has passed its peak of THC quality and quantity, and now contain higher levels of CBD and CBN, producing a heavy, lethargic and sleepy type of stone. So, there is a clue to harvest timing, if you prefer an uplifting and psychoactive type of high, harvest a bit before all the pistils have browned off and there are still roughly 5% whitish ones; or pick a bit later when all pistils have withered brown and the plant is on the cusp of death, if you prefer a heavy sleepy stone with "couch lock" effect and very little motivational high. Hope this helps,..... Organoman. (and not a fan of over ripe pot!)
