In reality, it is mostly advised to grow autos straight in their "forever" homes and to not transplant at all.
This way there is unimpeded root growth for fastest plant growth and no risk of the plant suffering from "transplant shock", which will happen, no matter how carefully transplanting is done. Due to the short window of opportunity for vegetative growth before flowering commences, anything that slows growth during veg will potentially result in smaller plants, leading to a lower harvest potential.
