Scrogging for beginners

Keepitgreen
Keepitgreenstarted grow question 4 years ago
Good evening growme homies.... I'm doing "scrog" for first time and also I'm gonna try "swazzing" technique. I'm bout to be in 3rd week of flowering. Gurls are about 8-10" above netting. When I trim in a day or two should I level them out to bout 6" above net or leave them?

I think you are mad to even contemplate torturing your plant by "schwazzing" it! This has got to be the most outrageously plant unfriendly "treatment" ever to inflict on any plant, let alone a desirable and loved cannabis plant. I am extremely anti defoliation at any time, your plants needs every healthy green leaf it has, to produce the energy it needs to grow her biggest and best flowers. Apart from stressing your plant incredibly, removing so many leaves will slow growth for 2-4 weeks while waiting for your plant to recover and grow new leaves, making removing the healthy ones she had in the first place pointless. This "schwazzing" torture can not be used on autos, you will most likely end up with almost zero yield, something to keep in mind if you do insist on trying this form of plant torture. WARNING WARNING - if you are at 3 weeks of flowering, and you "schwazz" now, you can basically say goodbye to your harvest. If for any reason anyone sane would inflict this torture on their plant, it should be done well before flowering commences. Right now your plant needs maximum energy to grow maximum flowers. Any defoliation will prevent your plant from doing so, especially at this stage of flower growth. Just remember, - maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth and maximum health. This is basic plant biology 101 and I have hopefully convinced you to prevent the biggest disaster in your plants life. Well, you did ask for opinions! Hope this helps,.............. Organoman. (and vehement anti defoliation advocate!)

I would level them out to make the canopy as even as possible and also to help with light penetration.
