Rain water vs. tap water

I have access to both this summer and was wondering what advantages/disadvantages one had over the other?

It depends on your tap water. My water comes from a well and has some magnesium and calcium so it's actually better then rainwater since I don't need to add calmag. If you have city water I'd say rainwater is better. The tap water from my local town has a very high pH and chlorine & chloramines.

Rain water is more pure and plant friendly than tap water, so I would use that. Tap water is fine with no real advantages or disadvantages that I could pick between either water supply during my grows in the past, so using either won't cause any major issues or benefits, but since plants have been growing with rain water for ever, using it would be the logical choice. Tap water isn’t good unless you leave it setting out for 24-48hrs due to the level of chlorine in it will kill beneficial bacteria. Rain water is idea because it is slightly acidic and your ladies will love it. Only part is collecting it. Happy Growing!!!
