Generally a plant can double to triple in height during the stretch. Training it while it's stretching helps to stop it growing into the light. There are various methods for training.

stretchy seedlingHi i’m growing next to a window with approximately
10 hours of light + 4 hours of light from a 4W led bulb.
The plant is kind of stretchy, not falling over but I added a stick for safety just in case. Is it healthy? Will it be normal and recover?

Too late to train?Just discovered this is not an autoflower and I should have topped, stress trained or tried some techniques to reduce height and increase yield. Is it too late now? Should I at least defoliate? Would you recommend I replant in a bigger pot? (dont want it to grow anymore)5y ago

Plant taller than it should be by 3ftI have been growing ILGM auto northern lights and they are growing far taller than they should. I plan to try 'topping' my current one (2 weeks old atm) but am wondering if this is the only solution. Ive made changes to my soil and a new light thinking it may be 'stretching'.Plant. Too tall

It's on the plant on the left. Both the same strain, and autos, but I topped the one on the left. Its been growing too quickly tbh and just wanted to try to have an even canopy. Been feeding them fox farms veg nutes. About to switch. Dose her with cal mag maybe?4y ago

Any ideas why 2/4 have grown much taller and the other 2/4 are shorter and bushier?Does anybody know why 2/4 plants seem to be way taller than the other two? All four are meant to be the same strain, have all had the same conditions since day 1. Today i moved the taller plants to the left side of the tent and raised the shorter plants.6y ago

Plant stakes for heavy branches???Do you add structural support to branches before they form buds? People have warned me to add structure to my plant ASAP. I don't see a lot of photos of plants with stakes. My plant is really tall & I didn't train it because I was scared to break it & horizontal space limited.5y ago

What is better ? : a strong light (Dimmed 60% of a 205 led) far away from the plants (46cm for the closer ones and 57cm for the smallest plants) or or a more moderate light (dimmed at 40%) but closer (from 35cm to 46cm) Thx so much4y ago

My plant is to tall!Hello Growers! The size of my Fat Banana Automatic is getting out of hand. I didnt expect it to grow that big. It is in Week 6 now and its about 80cm tall + the size of the pot.
