Generally a plant can double to triple in height during the stretch. Training it while it's stretching helps to stop it growing into the light. There are various methods for training.

Is it normal for my flowering plant to look so thin and stretchy??I kicked her into 12/12 schedule about 2 weeks ago. I’ve seen some pics of other plants about 2 wks into flowering and they look big n bushy as heck. Wondering if I’m doing anything wrong. Haven’t updated my diary yet but I plan to soon. My plant is to tall!Hello Growers! The size of my Fat Banana Automatic is getting out of hand. I didnt expect it to grow that big. It is in Week 6 now and its about 80cm tall + the size of the pot. Can moving tent upstairs shock plants 14 wks.Can plants go into shock if I move my tent upstairs in air conditioning, currently in basement room. I had to get 12" extension and after removing drop ceiling I still will need to cut 1.5" off the extension bars or move entire tent upstairs.Week 14
