Lux Meter Apps on Smartphones

What are your thoughts on Lux meter apps? The app on my Samsung Galaxy S10+ is showing 16,600 Lux at the tops of the seedlings, and converting that to a rough PPFD shows 222.55/umol/s/m². Reading more, 15k-45k Lux and 200-400 PPFD is good for early veg. What are your thoughts?

Yeah that’s good for newly popped seedlings. On the light meter apps - I highly recommend ” Photone “ app. It’s been reviewed against the benchmark several hundred dollar apogee light sensors and is surprisingly accurate. If you look up on MIGRO light meter apps on YT you can see the data on it. He tests several phone apps against the apogee. Photone was the closest to actual PPFD readings from the apogee device. Download is free but it costs to unlock the actual use of it. Totally worth it to me. If you do buy it- make sure you follow the instructions about putting a paper diffuser over top of it !

I use a LUX app on my phone all the time. It's more accurate than going by height and guessing at a power setting for the light. My lighting manufacturer provided a LUX to PPFD conversion number for my light. It's 65 in my case and it looks like you are using 75. During veg I will vary the light intensity to help get the plant to do what I want. If I want the plant taller or more space between nodes I'll go with less light. If it's a plant that want's to get big I'll turn up the power to help keep it shorter and with a smaller distance between nodes.

Sounds spot on to me. Just enough light so they don't stretch too much but enough to get some internodal spacing for LST. I shine 10k for about 2 weeks (through 3rd internode).
