Compacted plants?

PenguHB
PenguHBstarted grow question 3 years ago
I am currently on day 17 and the plants don't seem to grow very bushy - they have plenty of leaves, but they seem very compacted and not very tall. Using 2-1-2 NPK. Any suggestions guys?

Your plants look good. I find that growth is usually slow in the beginning. The sprout will emerge. Then set it's first pair of true leaves and then they often take a pause for 5-7 days. Then after the pause they grow at a moderate rate until they have set 4 or 5 nodes. Then after that the growth rate often speeds up. I avoid tying plants up unless it is absolutely necessary. If I do I tie them, I will tie very loosely and have a fan blowing gently over them so they get bumped around which helps force the plant grow a stronger stem.

Thanks for help, I was a bit worried as I noticed some other diaries show much bigger plants at this stage. I tied them very loosely, just enough to prevent them tipping over as the stems were very fragile - stretched a lot as the light they were getting on a window sill was rather bad (only about 5 hours a day under direct sunlight). They are strong enough to stand on their own now.

They look about right for the age of them. The fan leaves have reached the edge of the pot so I would transplant to the final pot. So long as your using correct ph and getting run off and waiting for soil to dry enough inbetween watering you should have a good grow.
