I have a 100% germ rate- no lie. I use Jiffy Pellets. Just soak them from the bottom up, squish out any excess water, make a small hole approx half an inch deep, drop ur seed in and re-cover the hole. You can pack it down just a touch so that as the seed emerges from the pellet, it pulls off the husk. I use a humidome that was sold with the Jiffy pellet starter pack. I bought this (30 pellets and the humidome) for maybe $10 at Walmart, they seem to always have these kits every spring. So it usually takes 3-5 days for the seeds to sprout and if the pellet starts to dry out at all during that time, you just add more water (always soaking from the bottom up). Once the seed is up you can immediately transplant the entire pellet into whatever you wish and into the garden they go! Couldn’t be simpler for me, maybe it could work for you too! All the best 😊

I've germinated about 20 seeds on my life and I've never had a single one not work? 🙄I always just keep them in a dark cool place (normally a drawer in a paper bag inside a box or something) and then I moisten kitchen paper put on plate, put seed on, put another plate upside down on top. Keep in a warm place (normally takes 3 to 7 days with me) 👍🌱

@jomo32295 Hi mate my fave method works really well First I get a small glass or shot glass fill with Room temp water Drop the seeds in and I will keep pushing on them until they sink and soak for 12 hours or overnight Next day I put the seeds between 2 damp makeup removing pads then into a clip seal baggie This goes to a warm dark spot like on top of your fridge ... Two days later I usually have atleast a 1cm taproot showing on each seed. Works everytime 😎👍👌

germination is the most stressful part of all this, and i hated doing it until i got a cheap propagator and the root cubes with bacto from RQS, really takes the guess work out and reduces "user error" . Is it worth 17 bucks, totally bro, it reusable, keep it forever, thank me once 🚀

Hi @jomo32295! Your process involves touching the seeds a few times, and this is risky. My process is almost the same but quicker/simpler (less is more): I usually soak the seeds until they start to open in water (24~48 hours) then I transplant them immediately into a container full of a fresh and light medium. And 24-48 hours later, seedlings usually pop out of the medium, at least 90% of my seeds. Make sure you keep them in a dark and temperated place, for instance don't put the plate on your internet box (as I've seen a lot of growers doing this), it's too hot and wifi waves are suspected to hurt seedlings. Just keep them in a sealed closet between 22-24°c into water until they crack, then straight to the pot. Hope this will help, keep us updated and happy growing! 👊

I'd say maybe temp problem. But I have used razor blade to help them seeds that won't crack open. Gently scrape from pointy head and try to open up the shell just a bit and leave it in paper. Hope this will help! Also could be just bad seeds.. who knows Better luck and happy growing!

Seeds are very finicky. The oils from your hands can make them not germinate. I suggest removing the glass of water step to reduce the amount of handling of the seed and place right in a paper towel. When you see a taproot in paper towel, normally 24-48 hours, carefully transfer it to your growing medium or starter plug with tweezers. Think spring conditions!! So warm water, not extremely hot, and high humidity. I found placing the paper towel in a large ziploc bag helps germination rates because of the humidity. I place the ziploc bag in a box/shoe box and place in my tent where it is warmer but no light can penetrate because of the box. Good luck and Happy growing!!

This sometimes happens, I had 5 green house cheese and not a single one popped and they were left for 10 days. I don’t have time to wait for seeds to germ so they got tossed, I also had 15 other seeds and all popped with 15 hrs and within 24hrs they were all in soil. I just use paper towel and two plates one ontop the other with a heat mat and heat mat controler with the prob in between the 2 plates. Also make sure your paper towel isn’t over hanging the outside of your plates they will wick water real fast and dry out.they say you can leave them for 14 days but like I said no time for that. Good luck I hope they pop for ya!
