Defoliation (no horizontal room in my tent and a lot of vertical room)

This may seem like a dumb question but is cutting these small lower branches off going to promote vertical growth in my plants? I will be doing it later on anyways to eliminate larf but would it be more beneficial now or is it worth to keep to take in light energy for now

Skirting or "lollipoping" your plants won't really push more vertical growth but I'd say your plants are on pace. Remember when you switch to 12/12 you're gonna get plenty vertical growth during the stretch of early flower, they'll likely double or even triple in height. I would probably recommend skirting right before you change to 12/12. If you plan to remove it anyway there's no sense in letting the plants waste energy budding out those areas.

Well, I would cut all the branches from the 3rd node down, just keeping the fan leaves. Start reducing the light hours until 12/12. It takes about 1 to 2 weeks to reach 12/12, so it gives them time to recover and will make them stretch nicely. Good luck, greetings!
