If you are buying nutrients, go with the same brand - especially for synthetics (you may end up with bad reactions if you mix different nutrient lines as sybthetics from same brand usually compliment each other). Organics is a little different as you are feeding the soil and not forcing the plant to take what you want to give it, it is harder to over fertilise but the plant eats what it wants when it wants it. Organics are easier to mix but I would suggest sticking with the same lines incase you get reactions forming your organic material to clump / not breakdown or worse, breakdown into compounds you dont want.

I have been making my own mixes of fertilizers with 4-10 ingredients from 4-10 different manufacturers for decades now and without problems. Just remember, if using 4 ingredients to use quarter strength of each, or if 10 ingredients one tenth strength of each etc. This is for use with soil. If you are growing with hydro, best to stick with the same brand, as often they are designed to be used as a "complete system" whereby they are more like individual ingredients to make one finished product. As in - part A plus part B plus part C.
