How long to wait before giving up on germination?

Still waiting for germination. A part of me worries that I buried the seeds a bit too deep (ended up probably closer to 3/4"-1" deep). However I know these things can take time so trying to be patient. What is the longest you would wait for a seed to sprout before giving up?

If you planted too deep you can very carefully scrape away some of the soil so the seed is closer to the surface. If you go digging for your seed be VERY careful. The tap root will emerge first and will go quite deep before it starts pushing the seed up. If you bump the seed too hard you will break it off the tap root and it's dead.
I soak my seeds in water for 24-36 hours then I plant them in soil. My fastest seed had a sprout above ground about 72 hours after it touched water. 4 or 5 days after the seed got wet to sprout above ground is my average. I start to get nervous if I don't see a sprout in 7 days. If I don't see anything after 10 days I will gently dig to find the seed and see how it's doing.

Thanks for the advice! I don't think I need to be worried now. 1 has already sprouted as of this morning and hopefully the others will follow shortly. Next time however to be sure I will be more careful with depth and pre soak first.

Oh man. Did you germinate the seed to make sure it has a tap root before dropping it in? Or did ya just drop it in?
An 3/4-1 inch deep is a bit much. I only go like a 1/4 down.
Dropped directly in soil that deep. I would wait up to 21 days. I did the same with a “fuck you” seed test I did and it took about 16 days to get it to pop out the soil.
I would try to keep that medium at a nice temperature to promote root growth and wait out.

Seedling white tips?Plz help! Seedlings are 5 days old under 26C daytime and 22C nighttime. One of them have white tips and I have never seen this before.
Soil is Canna Terra Professional and I am not sure if this is overwatering or nutesburn. Soil is not drying up it stays wet for over 1 week now.
