Seed Soaking

Bflo38
Bflo38started grow question 3 years ago
I have soaked my seeds overnight. Should I let them soak until they start to sprout? Or should I plant them after 24 hours. I received my seeds from a friend I do not know how old they are.

If after 24 hours your seeds sank I would transfer to moist papertowel till taproot is 1/2 to 3/4 in. Make sure to put papertowel in darkness at around 75°-80°f.

I let me be soak until they pop and the root shows ever so slightly. Then I’ll transfer to wet paper towel for 1-2 days, let the tap root come out to about 1/4” before you plant.

I like to get them planted before the tap root emerges. The tap root is very fragile and if you break it the seed is dead so I like to get the seed in place so it can sprout and grow without being disturbed or broken. Of course this means you have to wait a few more days to find out if the seed is/was viable.
