Hello Growmies, As iam doing a Growoff -Challenge , Iam wondering wich strategy i should run. The Goal is to have more harvest than @silky_smooth. What would you do? go with Huuuuge Pots, or doing awsome Training? or combinations? how would you do it?

pick sufficient pot size for length of vege you agreed upon for contest. Bigger may only bring problems and few benefits if it has no time to get large enough to make use of it. if sativa structure (limited axillary growth), i think LST does a better job bushing those out, initially, than topping (top later to control level of canopy, spread it out mroe). if indica... Think topping is a bit faster overall - at least to start. certainly more easily organized when topping to fill a space. If you got time, top then lst until branches are where they need to be to grow vertically. i.e. get X primary branches (from topping) trained out horizontally over area before allowing to grow vertically... top where needed, lst otherwise etc etc. LST/topping often requires removing some growth in congested areas.. .any growth you remove is just wasted effort for the plant that could have grown something else that would augment yield. So, if you cna visualize one path requiring less waste, definitely the way to go. i'd get real specific about how i organize it too... even it out vascular tissue however it calculates to fill the space -- i.e. any primary branch off apical meristem will support same number of colas. Having the vascular tissue as evenly split as possible between all colas will help avoid larf, which i would think should increase yield.

So you've got 8 weeks off veg time maximum really. Which means mainlinine probably out of the question. Seeing as you're already 3 weeks in to the grow, I would top her soonish maybe next week, transplant to a 5 gallon with light, airy soil mix, heavily feed and boost that veg time to the max all the while implementing LST techniques.

Servus Mrs.. I'd go for a SCROG, also I would have 50% Coco added to your soil so you won't lose all the benefits from the soil but have a much better aeration of your substrate and therefore much faster root growth.. and as I learned from you as a rookie... 🤣😜 the bigger the roots the bigger the fruits..😃🤞👍 Good luck Sensei🙏

I would go as big as I could with pot size and then heavy training with a extended veg time to reach peak maturity before flowering.

I think if you want high yield, scrog may be your answer...long veg time and a huge amount of colas can be created with training and pinching. Like Grow wolf says though you can train all you like but if the environment is not optimum then its really pot luck if either of you win. I wish you the best of luck, happy growing

@Mrs_Larimar It really all depends on the genetics and what they are able to produce in an ideal environment But yes I would use some LST and topping to achieve more colas , a bigger container will allow more root growth but is only as good as the amount of time you veg the plants for . ie the more structure the plant has in the way of branches to hold those buds then the more yield you may get. Is there a time limit involved Mrs L? if not I would allow for atleast 8 weeks of veg before flipping and during flowering concentrate on giving the plant/s everything they need to make those Buds Swell 👌

Little bit of both. I think just a big plant will get some views. But if you do some crazy horizontal training then it would prob get more views. Im picturing a scrog that is shaped like a Christmas tree. See how much surface area you can get before you have to flip. The watch a massive sea of buds pop up across the canopy. Happy Growing
