if "never" is 8-10+ weeks, then you may have an photoperiod.. should happen less than 1% of time.
google for twilight times and guesstimate hours of darkness... if it was over 10+ hours since it started to flower (given 1 week or more to display visible signs), then there is even more evidence it is a photoperiod.
stick to 12-12 or 13-11 schedule inside... if you have other plants, expect some sort of contamination from outside... that plant likely brought something in.
