Ventilation Setup for Smell Attenuation

MrBz21
MrBz21started grow question 3 years ago
Is this setup ok? Since the air tent will be recirculating i think the smell will be atenuated. I haven't seen other growers with this setup (I'm a newbie though), so I wonder if there's something wrong with it.

My experience is that you will have a hard time with heat / RH etc as well as there is no room for fresh air replacement. The air coming out of the tent will be a certain humidity and temp. You push it back into the tent and the air will heat up again as you are essentially using the tent as a heat exchanger. And with no fresh air coming in, I'm apt to think that the RH will rise as the same air keeps getting reheated and cooled and reheated etc. I pull the air through the filter [Ducting <- fan <- filter <- Tent air] and push it out the ducting. If I weren't drying 2 big ass plants right now, the smell in my basement would be next to nothing even though one tent has 2 more big ass plants starting flower. I've got a this in a 4'x8'x80" tent https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084XHGSBT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it sucks the walls of the tent in just a little bit. and has no smell to it at all.

If you go with a recirculating method you will need to control the temp/humidity/CO2 inside the tent so you will need 1. Temp Control - AC unit and/or Heater depending on the environment outside your tent. 2. Humidity Control - Humidity sensor with attached humidifier and dehumidifier. 3. CO2 - CO2 bags at a min, but either burners or canisters and a sensor. 4. Ensure no leaks are in the grow area( zippers, pinhole from sewing, vent flaps not air tight ) since you have a neutral air pressure it will leak out of any spot it can. Its much easier to have a passive intake( bottom vent on most tents ) and to have a carbon filter with a fan at the top always on( negative pressure ). As long a the carbon filter is rated for the CFM that the fan does you will not smell anything until the carbon filter needs replacing. Happy Growing

No fresh air intake. it will work but wont be the best you need a constant supply of fresh air recirculating hot spent air is going to cause you some problems :)
