Hello, the best advice is out there. Look out for videos on YouTube by Prof. Bruce Bugbee of Apogee Instruments and Utah State University. He goes in to great detail the advantages of using UV for cannabis. Amongst other things.
However, the short answer is yes! UV can indeed be used to increase resin production in cannabis, But only if used in the last few weeks of flowering. Anytime before that is pointless and will give the plant a resistance to those light conditions. Depending on the space you have, you want to get a UV-B light. Cheapest options are the Reptile Dragon light kits which can have up to 15% UV-B emitted. This is good enough for your small, 1-4 plants. Anything larger will bee a more powerful light. Solarcure and Migro light both advertise there own brand.
What you are trying to simulate is high noon sun. This is where outdoor plant get their UV. By subjecting you cannabis plant with small amounts of UV light (at first, around 15mins midway through current day lighting schedule) and increasing their exposure till harvest. Start this in the last three weeks of flower. UV is dangerous to plants so too much will mutate them. It is also harmful to humans so try not to open the tent while this light is on.
This increase in resin, therefore an increase in terpenes is a natural reaction to the UV. It works and has been proven. You just have to test it yourself. I hope this helps, good luck and happy growing
