Thoughts on how far away I am from harvest? I see amber hairs on sigmas, but not sure what that means. I think 3-4 weeks from harvest, but don’t know what to look for exactly other than clear pistils Any idea?

Well firstly , when to harvest is a matter of preferences with a few guide lines . You don't wanna be harvesting when your plant still has mostly clear trichomes , this will give you poor quality "stone". You typically wanna wait until most of the trichomes are milky/cloudy accompanied by some amber ones my prefered ratio is 80 milky 20 amber . Moving on to some of the signs that your plant is ready for harvest . Your plant will give you signs when its nearing the end of its life cycle you will notice that your plant will stop pumping out calyx hairs , she will slow in the swelling of the flowers , leaves will turn yellow or different colours for seemingly nothing . These are a few of the signs you can look for to ensure that your going to get maximum yield and potency as well . Another simple way to ensure your plants are done before you harvest them is to check your seed banks recommended flowering time and add 2 weeks to that time . I say this because often times plants wont be ready in the ammount of time they say , yes you could cut them down on the day they suggest and still get good bud , but to get even better product from it I usually give it 1 - 2 weeks longer . Another reason I say this is because most of us can't replicate the exact exact enviroment that the breeder made their seeds so that leads to extra time often in grows. Lastly , you can get tools that will help you look at your trichomes on your plant to better help you determine when you wanna harvest exactly , these tools are common and can be found in a variety of places such as Amazon , Wal mart , Camera shops , Grow shops , Ebay , the tools are a "Portable Microscope" and "micro lense" both of these tools are inexpensive and will greatly help in the department of determaning when your plants are ready by allowing you to see the plants trichomes up close and personal so you can see if they are clear , milky/cloudy or amber . Other then that there isnt really much else to discuss on this topic I hope the information provided helps you on your journey to becoming a Grow Master !! -Happy Growing!

Hi, i always look at the whole Plant to look if shes ready, and using as much senses as possible. Are the Hairs to 75 percent brown? do the other leaves change colour to " autum colours", how is the smell?. did she produce sugar on the leaves.. and how do the trichomes look. To me your lady loks like anumber of weeks more, shes green, hairs are white, trichomes appear clear. Give her a nice temperature and Rh ( up to 27 degree and under 50 percent rh... ) feed her with a booster and molasses, And talk to her they love it to hear how beautiful they are. Get a jewelers loupe ( 5 euro on amazon) to look for the trichomes. Iam guessing for around 3 Weeks longer. Happy gardening

Hey brother sorry to hear about your mold smell and it lingering ..they do look good but they don't appear to be there yet. You could go buy pistol colour but it ain't very accurate as some strains keep growing pistols .you wanna get a jewelers loupe and examine the trichomes that are on the most matured buds mine has a 100x magnification and light .you aim for 50-75% orange hairs and milky or cloudy trichomes to get a good THC high were as any longer gets they deep couch lock hope this helps a bit don't get discouraged it ain't easy and takes a bit to master no doubt..cheers

Hey Vic the only reliable way is to monitor your trichomes with a 30x or better 60x magnifying glass. You want to look at the thrichomes on the calyxes, not the hairs or the leaves. You want to harvest with the highest percentage of cloudy milky trichomes as possible. Clear trichs=not ready. cloudy=reaching maximum thc level. amber= too late your thc is converting to cbd and other less desirable compounds. I start flushing when I get about 10% amber and they are usually good for me in about a week. You will get different effects depending on when you harvest. A early harvest with several clear trichs will give you more of an entergetic high where a late harvest with a lot of amber will give you more of a sedative couchlock effect. It is really something you have to experiment with to see what you like. It is pretty hard to guess how much time you have but I would say you are close on your estimate of 3 or 4 weeks. And as for the mold. Make sure you are extracting air from the room and have oscillating fans circulating air in the room. You want to get your humidity down to 45% or lower if possible. A dehumidifier will help. Hope this gets you headed in the right direction.
