the pointy green things are 'stipules'. those are not sex organs and can be ignored.
if you see a stem elongating as opposed to a nub firmly in the nook, it's male. A white hair is also a sign of a female. Initial growth may be near impossible to distinguish, as you cannot see if one is projecting from a tiny twig or if it pops a white hair (pistil or stigma), yet. Also, multiple sacs will form vs 1 female preflower per nook - if still symetrical growth, 1 on each side where a branch formed, but never in bunches. Will usually see that before they mature and open up.
point is.. .you will have time between when it is distinguishable and when you will have mature, viable pollen floating around. lots of time, if you check daily.... you'll have 'forever' to avoid any problems.
