Dried my plants , hung them upside down as a whole for 10 days then cut and trimmed and let sit in my mesh baskets in a humidified controlled tent with no light at 50% humidity for another week before putting into jars and regulate jars at 60-65% still smells like wet grass ?

It can take months for a good cure on some strains. And if you keep em in glass jars and dont open the lid a few times a week to get some air in then they never really change much in smell for a very long time. Try this- get a few of the smaller buds and put em in a paper bag and roll the top over so its sealed shut. Leave the bag some where dark and cool for a week to two weeks and then open it up and have a smell. It should be a massive improvement on the smell, and if you like the direction it went in, then do it on a larger scale for the rest. I also store some of my buds in closed shoe boxes lined with newspaper for up to a month before moving em to glass jars. Try diff methods and see what results in something you like. Personally I like my buds a bit drier than most people , like below 50% and once i dry them to MY liking, I cure them either in thick paper bags or thin paper bags kept in cardboard boxes for around a month then put em in glass. I have some Sour Diesel Buds in glass atm that was harvested in April last year and it is only now starting to lose that potent gassy fuel smell im not so keen on after smoking over half a pound of it and its now getting quite smooth and easy on the lungs after many months. Also 10 days for a whole plant hung up to dry isnt enough- spesh if its a decent size and still has alot of fan leaves. If those fan leaves get stuck together they often trap just enough moisture to cause smell issues later on during the cure. I love to whole plant hang to dry too, but for small to medium sized plants, and ALWAYS take off ALL the fan leaves and just leave sugar leaves to trim later on, then hang the whole plant up to dry. Sure you can leave them on, many pple do...but many pple also complain their bud smells like hay or cat piss too...lols.

were they sweating (minimal okay if no probs after airing them out once) when you jarred? seems like plenty of time for this not to be a problem... if they were, that could be part of it. probably not quite dry enough to be sealed up, if that is the case. moist buds are a no-no to seal up in a jar, even with a 2way RH pack. temps are just as important as RH when considering impact on evaporation. this is something you'll gain familiarity. if they are sweating too much, extend drying times for similar density and size of buds in future. if they aren't sweating, it may just take more time. 30-40days curing before i'd start to worry about smell. Though you'll start to recognize that anaerobic microbial growth smell and brown coloring if somethign is off. while obviously best to be 'otptimal' it's better to err on the side of slightly too dry than any excess moisture before jarring. some setups mitigate this better than others.. anything that refreshes the air or isn't sealed up is probably a better way to go. A humidor-like setting would be best. maintain temp and RH%. Do you see cigars sealed up in jars? there is a good reason for that. Even so, i also use jars because i don't have a better option at the moment. When it is sealed, you run risk of anaerobic bacteria growing. this is associated with characteristics of schwag weed - browning of weed over time and a bad smell. Perpetual burping needed if you don't want browning weed 6 months down the line or less. of all the factors, light causes the fastest rate of degradation unless you live in death valley and dry it outside, maybe? LOL And, if you smoke this within 6 months... you don't have to be as anal about storage as their won't be much time for it to degradate much even in less optimal conditions. The 2-way packs keep the smoke smooth.

Patience grasshopper.... Curing takes time. One week is not enough. This is a big reason I suggest new growers sample their product frequently. Once right after harvest the about once a week after that so you can smell and taste the difference that curing time makes. I average about one week for drying. Then I put into airtight containers and adjust the humidity to 58-62%. After one week curing I can't say it gets any better smelling. The taste improves a bit. Two weeks is my minimum curing time. Three weeks is what I normally do. Longer than that I can taste and smell a difference but it gets very hard to tell from one week to the next as there is less and less change each week. But, even though 3 weeks is my curing length sample your product and see how long you want to go. Some people cure for months.

If it smell like wet grass take them out they are not ready yet. They might have had all their terpenes burned up if the room was to warm. They say to try and dry your stuff aorund 15-18c. try and keep the jars around 62%RH Good luck
