Das sind Haarwurzeln die Wasser und Nährstoffaufnahme dienen. Beim Trinken sind für Pflanzen drei Dinge wichtig; der Überdruck in den Wurzeln, bedingt durch die Wasseraufnahme, die Kapillaren, das ist ein Gefäßsystem das sich durch die komplette Pflanze uioeht und der Unterdruck in den Blättern, hervorgerufen durch die Verdunstung. Also keine Sorge, ggf. etwas Erde anhäufeln, sollte aber nicht nötig sein. Viel Glück!

Like others have said it could also be hairs that need a little topsoil so to speak

I don't see anything except at the bottom & I'm pretty sure thats roots, hair roots or were the root is bigger then the stem which is normal the tap root shoots 2 or 3 time as deep as urs is tall. Cover it a little more is what I do.

If it is mold. Should I toss it? Can it be saved?

if it is fuzzy and not just some recently exposed root with hairs... probably not good. Picture isn't clear enough, but you should be able to discern in real life easily.

Looks to me like it could either be mould or possibly just some very fine hairs that you see on all our ladies stems Be vigilant for mould spreading but I hope it’s not the case for you 🙏
