Pests in roots / Diatomaceous earth(amorphous silica) safe to use in coco?

Running a coco grow and I’m starting to see small root pests, was going to top the pots with diatomaceous earth and dry down root balls.

depends what your trying to kill. DE or diatomaceous earth works best when it is dry and the bugs crawl over it. its like mini glass shards and dehydrates them. when it gets wet it is not effective. You may find better luck in a BT containing product like misquote pucks or a living predator like beneficial nematodes. Best Of Luck!

Hundreds of tiny bugs on top layer of soil what are they?Was just feeding them and noticed hundreds of tiny seed looking things float to the top of each plant, watched the soil for a while and they was moving 😪 They look like fungus knats maybe but I don't know for sure will upload a video I got of one. How many others have otherwise healthy autos take 4+ months regularly? The one in my bonus pictures (not in the grow, didnt feel like moving it from tent) didnt even flower the first time until 3-4 weeks ago, 7 months in. We even quit fucking with it for two months completely.
