it is total preference when you switch your diary to flower. If your growing a strain from a bank that says your info about the plant and they say flowering times are 9 to 12 weeks, they are always counting from first sign of pistols on autos or when you switch to 12/12 with photos.

Autos have a mind of their own. When you see signs of stigma, (white hairs, pistons) your plant has moved into pre-flower, ie flowering. With autos you don't need to do a flip. Ppl just change their light depending on pref with autos. Autos love light. So, in "the flip", if you wanna call it that, cause all the flip is with autos is when she starts showing stigma and you should lower the nitrogen and increase your P-K for flowering as these marconutes are essential for a good kick to your flowering lowering the chances of getting mostly larf to getting nice dense hard buds. Happy growing good luck pal

If it’s an autoflower I’d go with the first signs of flowering. If it’s a photo period I count the first day of 12/12.

Hey Growmie, To answer your question you should start counting your flowering days from the day you see the first pistils emerge on your plants, this can vary from plant to plant, so you should check on them daily once you initiate the change in the light cycle. The minute you see a pistil, you can start counting down the days to harvest. Hopefully, this was helpful, and remember "Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time".
