Hey there Fiori , so when the plant switches into flower it's a good idea to switch NPK fertiliser to flowering ratios , like from 4-2-2 to 2-4-4 . But there are other flowering fertilizers for example PK Boost something like 0-10-10 NPK. That one you should use when the budsites are as fat as your finger. The first one, there are no disadvantages to doing it early, actually switching even during veg can trigger flowering . The second one you have to be careful with because it can burn the plant. but if you follow that advice with the thumb, you wont have any problems. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Yes, there are disadvantages to starting bloom fertilizers too early, as cannabis still needs adequate nitrogen during the early flowering phase. What I have been doing for 25+ years and which works really well for me, is to continue with grow nutrients until there are small "budlets or tufts of pistils, then change to half grow and half bloom nutrients for the next 2-3 weeks, depending on flowering speed, then and only then finally changing to straight bloom nutrients through until maturation. This seems to produce the biggest buds on plants that don't completely exhaust themselves by maturity and end up a sickly yellow colour. Any extra P and K are really only needed during the middle third of flowering, so giving extra P/K too early is not that beneficial. Without adequate nitrogen in early flowering, your plants will start cannabilizing itself way before it is fully mature, leading to metabolic upset that I believe impedes flower development and overall size and also degrades trichome health. Hope this helps, Organoman.

Depending if it is a photoperiod or autoflower. I try to start my autos on a light dose about when I think they are starting. Photoperiods I start when I switch over lighting with light dose and increase as flowering progresses. I have had some photoperiods want more potassium in week 5 through 8 prior to flowering where I applied a light dose to suffice them till flowering. So it's kinda up to the plant and what you see it doing.

you can start bloom nuts when first calyx and pistil are showing. You can experience some burn if you start them too early as the plant don't need much PK in vegetation.
