Topping with Autos

Grow pros I’m a seasoned soil photoperiod grower and brand new with autos. Should I be planning to top this plant in a few days? I would wait another week or two typically but don’t know what to do with an autoflower

You wanna try get it in as early as you can with an auto. To max out on the energy you need to get it in a wk or 2 before she begins to flower. You'll hear a lot about don't top but if done early, above the 4th or 5th and have a good week in veg too get the most out of it, that'll be best. And you'll get many nice colas instead of 1 main 1. Especially with DWC you wanna top. Above the 4th will be fine

The general thought is to not top auto's. They go into flower on their own (no control) and rather early so there isn't much time to recover. I typically go crazy with low stress training and have had very good results. My theory is with low stress you retain the plant mass and it's ability to produce fruit. So, I don't defoliate. I want all the solar panels out and working. I want as much plant mass as possible both above and below ground to support more final yield. When flowering I'll remove leaves shading flower sites but I really try to keep as many leaves as possible. As a soil grower I remove all leaves 75-100mm (3-4 inches) off the ground to give me access for watering but with hydro you don't even have to do that.

Hey Cheeseman420, Well you really don't want to top autoflowers, i know growers that still do it but you shouldn't. It will take alot of energy and your plant will never grow full size. You can LST them by bending them over, i would advice you to do that too. Goodluck growing :)

Hello Cheeseman420 Its best to not top auto flowers because it can stunt them to much before they start to flower. You will want to use LST techniques to bend her over to get more light to the lower nodes to get them to grow out more. If you check out this growers diary he does a great job at showing how to train her growdiaries.com/diaries/95832-grow-journal-by-roberts/week/487918 Happy Growing
