Topping on the second or third internode?

Topping can be done, but it can affect the yield if you don't do it right.. that's why it's not recommended; if you make mistakes, you'll pay for them in the end. However, if you do everything right, the yield can increase. Normally, you top at the third internode (once I topped at the first internode and the plant did well). I like to observe the plant and see what it wants; I would leave it alone a bit, do a nice LST to widen the branches by moving the leaves that cover them, and that's it...

Thank you all for your kind support!! I see there are many reasons why not topping so there is no one best answer, all are great advice! in the past I have grown 3 lowryder feminized, topped at the second internode and they grew well,,, but maybe it's just genetic 😊

All depends on the genetics. I see you're growing fastbuds. They don't like being topped. If you top them it will take a week out of there veg growth. It will have a 75% chance of going herm on you. Best of luck with your grow.

Personally, I don't recommend topping autos at all. LST only. That's just my 5 cents though.

So I personally have a lot of mixed feelings about topping or any kind of HST for auto flower cannabis because of the amount of stress that the plant has to go through can really mess up your grow for auto's. They just aren't as resilient as photoperiod plants but of course this isn't always the case and some phenos do great with topping and other various forms of HST. Another thing to note is that I've never topped my plants that before the fifth node. Just the way I was taught and the way most growers top they're plants as well. By this point the plant is mature and strong enough to handle the stress no problem. Hope this helps.
