To flush or not to flush...

puffyeyes
puffyeyesstarted grow question 2 years ago
Is it necessary to flush an organic autoflower grow at the end of flowering, before harvest? I've read contradictory things online, so I'm not sure. Any other suggestions for my grow/setup are appreciated.

chuck flushing doesnt get anything out of the buds. its impossible to get stuff out of flower tissue just by giving the plant plain water for a week or two and your bud quality will not improve because of a flush. its not about name calling or anything as you can see from comments anectodal evidence proves it as well as studies. now i’d be willing to reconsider my stance if you or someone else can provide even a semi scientific study or something that backs up flushing but that cant happen because it doesnt exist. mostly because its so bro science that real scientists will not even take the time to do a study on it. do you know any plant thats being flushed by its growers other than cannabis? i dont know any plant on earth that requires flushing. would you eat flushed lettuce or would flushed tomatoes taste better or grow better? do they flush tobacco even? thats a smokeable plant so maybe flushing would get those carcinogens out? nothing has to get flushed other than shit buds grown by overfeeding bottle addicts and even then i’d suggest down the toilet as an appropriate flushing technique. if someones plants smell like chemicals during curing its nasty buds which i’m not even gonna touch let alone smoke it and there is not much you can do to get those chemicals out of your buds except maybe a water cure. with that said i’m all for a natural fade. so dont overfeed during veg and flower and slowly taper down feeding starting from the mid weeks of flowering to achieve a natural fade at the end and then your buds will smell like candy and fruit and flowers and not like chemicals. nasty nasty stuff.

hahha so when nutrient companies offer products that serves your belief they are to be taken seriously but when they do a scientific experiment they are not to be taken seriously and how can you make connections between black lives matter and lgbtq movement and your belief that flushing will improve your buds is beyond me. i think you are actually demeaning those movements just by using them in the same sentence. both black lives matter and lgbtq movements can be defended scientifically while flushing can not. you cant find a single scientific evidence that it improves quality or quantity so you keep quoting nutrient company owners and showing nutrient company line ups as a proof that it works. its kinda sad chuck. you do whatever you like with your buds bud but puffy eyes has a chance to not overfeed and not ruin his buds in the last 2 weeks by flushing so i speak up. respect my opinion because as gandhi once said: fuck everyone who flushes! and i think it remains true today still.

Hello. Yes some people get so upset at this question that they call people names. With the Black Lives matter and the LGBTQ movement you would think people would be more open minded to other people opinions and not take it so personal that you have to start calling names and saying things like I don't give a shit, like this is their own personal little war that they have to win at all costs. It makes you look childish. I could write your name here, but I'm a better person than that. So I won't be bullied. I'll do what I want when I want. And I'll continue to flush because I think it helps and I think you are wrong. Quick search of the top 15 nutrient co. on this site. How many still offer flushing products. Why don't you convince them they don't need to make those products anymore. Chuck.

oh and puffy eyes, its not even a debate fam. i’ve never seen so many pro flushers in one place as i did on this site. there are many forums online and you usually dont find more than a handful of flushers amongst hundreds of thousands of users. its not a controversial issue, its just a thing of the past because now we have a scientific study on it. and personally i cant see anything sadder than people rejecting science in favour of cannabis ron jeremys personal opinions.

haha remo is not the scientific authority who decides whether flushing works or not. he was kinda funny looking guy with his videos and i’ll laugh watching him maybe but thats it. i personally dont give a rats ass what remo thinks, a study is worth a thousand old pot heads thinking they can flush shit out of their buds. by the way study itself finds no correlation between flushing and white ash or ions in the plant tissue. so take remos word for it i guess chuck, i’ll stick to scientific studies :) also again do you know any other plant on this planet which is being flushed by its growers to increase quality?

Yes, As you can see it's tough question. Some people feel very strongly about. I've heard this before and I'm still flushing. I find the bud quality at the end much better than when I don't flush. Even Remo said, if you want that white ash at the end of your joints, flushing insures that. Remo went on to say that unflushed buds tend to taste of chemicals and doesn't burn very well if at all. Tell you what, if you can change Remo's mind on flushing I'll rethink my stance on it too. So send them your argument about flushing and see what answer they send back. Puffy Eyes I wish you the best of luck trying to figure out this answer. Chuck.

Hello. This is a tough question. As you can see by the answers, people attack one another over this answer. I would rather people help one another than just be trolls. Some say this and some say that. I flush and I am not going to quite just because some nutrient co. put out a study that says you don't need to. I think it helps. I was at a cannabis conference earlier this week and asked Remo Colasanti owner of Remo Nutrients about flushing, he said "yes, defiantly it even says that in our grow charts". So it depends on which nutrient co. you ask about flushing you get a different answer. How about that, I said my piece without calling anybody names. Chuck.

I grow in soil and have not noticed a difference. I have tested no flush, 3 day, 5 and 7 day flush and have not noticed a difference. I think if growing in hydro with chemical fertilizers that flushing would be good to at least experiment with. But I think the more natural you grow the less you need flushing. Mother Nature does it right.

i’m stil waiting on those various research and studies you could have found about pros of flushing gottagrowsometime haha its nice to see i gave you the gift of knowledge but it seems you still dont get it. you cant flush something out of a bud. its impossible to flush heavy metals and shit. you should look into water curing if you wanna flush your nasty buds or maybe not overfeed with 14 different bottles and put the heavy metals in. the single most prominent fact here is that flushing is a myth. doesnt do anything but to decrease the quality of the final product and i have the study to back it up.

If you grow organic you don't need to flush no. If you use synthetic nutrients, micro nutrients and that have heavy metals in them and you will taste chemicals after you cure. Flush even for a few days. Just even feed water you don't need any hard run off just let the plant finish up eating. Good luck.
